I have started working on a new story that includes a character who bears similarities to a well-known celebrity. I want to avoid having my story posted in the celebrity category, however. The character in question is not the main character, and will not be involved in any of the sex scenes. Rather, the the celebrity's show will be the conduit that brings the two main characters together. Can I get away with creating a character such as "lantern-jawed, gap-toothed late night talk show host, Ray Numberman"?* Or does that land me in the category I am trying to avoid?

*Not the real character, but you can see where I am going with this concept.

nope- Celebrity is the category where you would put your story that features David Letterman, by name, as a main character.

Your side character isn't enough. :)

FWIW, I remember reading a story, probably in romance, that had a 'cameo' appearance by ... Lorena McKennitt, I think it was. Definitely not in celebrity, as Stella says, b/c she was not the main character.

Interesting difference of opinion. In my case the character will have certain features in common with the known celebrity, but will have a fictitious name. The conflict will be created on the show with the aid of the celebrity host, but will be resolved backstage between the guests.
