Because Ad-Aware's database hasn't been updated in about a quarter, the program has become dangerous to use. It's outdated database cannot detect new spyware and may see safe files as spyware falsely.

God, I love being on a Mac :D

This is NOT true. The coders for Adaware made a statement they are working on the newest version as we speak and is taking a little bit more time then they expected. Disregard the quoted post!

Yeah...

However... the current version won't do much about your spyware today. The spyware it looks for has mutated and there is newer and nastier stuff out there. Ad-Aware won't even sniff it. Leaving you vulnerable.

And as for that new verision...

When your anti-virus software starts working on a new version, do they stop updating the libraries? Pretty irresponsible.

Before downloading it I read some of the reviews on download.com. Most were favorable, but a few said it wasn't user friendly and overly aggressive in removing software, and I agree. I'm hardly an expert, but I think I know more than the average computer owner, and I have no idea what most of the stuff was that it identified as junk. I'm not saying it isn't a good product, but I'd rather be on the side of caution on this one.
