I read on a website that the average IQ of a special education/IEP placement is between 60-80. They fall at least one or two standard deviations below the mean average on the IQ bell scale.
I scored 89 on my evaluation which puts me on the high-end of the special ed spectrum.
If I had scored just a few points higher on some of the WAIS-III (Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale) subtests, I would not have been eligible for an IEP.
If I had tried harder perhaps I would have been able to score 95 which is pretty close to average intelligence.
