I saw it in 3D today.

I have never seen anything like it. It was the most amazing film I have ever experienced. Absolutely beautiful.

I'm gonna go see it again next weekend!:)

My heart is still pounding from it.

All I need is a date now to go see. Who wants to go see it in Chicago? :)

Totally! Anything to boost the experience :)

I do love anything that can enhance a delightful experience! :D
May I suggest we sneak in our own snacks and such though...it's the concession that bites the budget.

You can't escape big coats in Chicago with this cold! So, sneak in all snacks you need. I am still waiting for the date :)

The storyline is not very original, I must admit.

But the special effects are breathtaking.

I highly suggest paying the extra bucks to see it in 3D.

I'm gonna see where the nearest Imax 3D theater is playing it. I have got to SEE it again.

I could hear groans and grunts and the occasional "YEAH!" from people all around me.

And as soon at the final shot of the film beamed across the screen, the entire theater applauded and people were whoopin and hollering.

My 87 year old father was speechless. He finally turned to me said...That was awesome!

:D

Your 87 yr old father said "AWESOME"? lol
Good enough review for me. I'm a scifi/fantasy geek anyway.

I'll start thumbing my way there tomorrow. ;)
Though I may have to show some skin to make any decent time. Brrrrr
You better heat me up when I get there!

I have my own heat sources, no pun intended... or was there? And yes, feel free to show skin, even after you make it here :)

Well, um, ok. But I'm not experienced at sneaking anything in, with so much exposed skin.

I'm completely disinterested. I will see it on a small screen (19 inches small) when it comes to HBO.

Fine then Thee. No reserved seating for you, for the skin side show.
You must still be disgruntled about that new building parking! lol

I typically wait for my "see it list" to come out on DVD. But I do save one pick over the holiday season for the big screen. Generally, an action, thriller, or fantasy does it. Don't think I've watched a drama at the movies in over ten years, just doesn't do it.

I've been wanting a reason to go to the IMAX but the SO doesn't want to put up with the access problems, "all the way down Town?"

I think I'll see if I can talk her into an adventure, maybe with lunch and a drink?

I want to see a 3D Imax with full dolby! That sounds so cool, and a new film/media technique too!

Triple header I'd say.

Okay I am going now. Thanks for the review Sis.:rose:

Completely disinterested as well.

This has gotten "Episode I-III" written all over it, i.e. a computergame-like-style-with-too-much-visuals-going-on-and-no-story-to-support-it-as-well-as-cheesy-dialogue-and-too-fast-paced-montage-geek-fest".

Yet, some friends force me to come along and watch it in 3D. I'm excited to see if Cameron can proof me wrong.

lol I would leave you behind. Have fun! *grin*

I for one can see a movie just for fun special effects. So I will ge watch it soon. If it also turn out to be a decent plot, then all the better.

From what I've seen, I think Cameron went the wrong way in art direction on this one. It's way too colorful and shiny. And if he wanted me to buy the CG characters as real, he woulda needed to treat the film to some low key reality grit.

It's designed like an animated cartoon, so I'm gonna watch it as one.

saw it 2night in 3D- amazing everything about it - admit the story was original
but it also held an environmental message and (if I remember right) set in the year 2154
where planet earth is pretty much fucked - we're the aliens - and the natives of 'pandora'
were very tuned into nature. Very different that the usual alien, outerspace, planetary scenarios.
Amazing filming - very powerful.

I just got back from seeing it in 3D. It reminded me of John Varley's Titan.

In fact I saw all kinds of SF nods in it. The native's 'horses' were essentially thoats from Edgar Rice Burroughs Barsoom. The aliens reminded me a lot of Barsoom's green men.

The FX were astounding. What impressed me the most was the quiet stuff; the glowing and motile plants, those whirlybird insect thingies, the Home Tree and the Hallelujah Mountains. The aliens themselves were awesome and required very little suspension of disbelief.

I also liked the fact that all the female characters were strong ones. From Sigourney Weaver's scientist to Michelle Rodriguez gunship pilot who wouldn't participate in genocide to the alien woman Niytiri, all were strong. A very nice change.

Highly recommended.

Was just reading that there will probably be 2 or 3 sequels.

Far out!!!

And hopefully the sequels will answer some questions that I had, like...WTF makes Jake so special? I mean, he was supposed to be of a "pure" spirit, but he basically was gonna fuck the natives over. It seemed that most of the other characters had a purer heart than he did.

And hopefully Sigorney Weaver's character will be brought back.

Planning on taking my dad to see it at the Imax 3D theater on Christmas day.

He's looking forward to seeing it again too.:)

Oh, and can't wait to see "Alice in Wonderland". Saw the preview for it, and it looks most cool.

:)

Just came back for seeing it in 3-D. Whaaaa Hoooo!

Two and a half hours went by quickly and the FX were fantastic.

I made to mistake of reading the synopsis before I saw it although that didn't change the way I felt about the movie in the end.

The story has a few holes that needed to be filled so it wasn't just a shoot'em up. In a novel it would have been easy to fill in the holes, on film, I guess it would have taken too much time and the kids would have had to think about the issues.

Not too bad, at all.

I'd give it a four, five if they had explained the floating spoor thingys.
