well that explains it! its been pissing me off for days trying to figure out how to get an av.

It's always a good idea to read the "sticky" threads at the top of each forum. Stickies stay at the top of the thread list for visibility and quick reference. In How To, they give pertinent info on how the board works (e.g. avatars, titles, posting images, etiquette, acronyms), common and interesting topics (The Blank Manual), a place to introduce yourself and an idea of what one should post here.

Most of the other forums have similar stickies; while some of the info overlaps, they all give important tips on what's appropriate in the forum in which they're located.

A little observation and reading can save you a lot of time and aggravation.
