Ok, can anyone please help me? I figured out how to shrink the pic I want for my avatar to a small enough size, but I can't get it back from a bmp to jpg. I know it's supposed to be easy, but I am a total idiot unless shown with these things. I know I'm only supposed to need to rename or save it as jpg, but my pc won't let me choose that. I still have 98(plz don't laugh, need new pc badly) don't know if that would matter. When I click save as, it only has different types of bmp for the choices. I tried just adding .jpg to the actual name, and the pic name showed up under jpg, but no image! I am pulling my hair out here! I know it has to be easy, people on here change their pics all the time. What am I missing? Can anyone please help? I swear I am normally an intelligent person, but I must have had a brain fart or something, lol. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Open paint (program files, accessories, paint)
Then from file, click open. At the very bottom there is a scroll down for *files of type*.
Click all files until you find what you are wanting.
Open that, then under file, click *save as*.
Name the file in the *file name* box.
Then use the scroll down of *files of type* to choose what type of file you want to save it as.

Thank you for the help, but that is exactly what I tried, and when I get to where I "save as" there isn't any other option than bitmap. Physically will not let me change it. I don't have photoshop, so only can use paint. what you describe is just what i tried, and I am so lost, lol.pleaz_me said:
