I recently just downloaded a free trial of paint shop pro 8. It seems like a cool program and was wondering if someone who is familar with the program can tell me how ( if at all ) i can take a pic and make it small enough for an av. Mind you I am a blonde so the most idiot proof explaination would be greatly appreciated.Btw I am sure a lot are going to tell me I do not have enough for an Av I am aware of that lol .

Open the image you want to resize.

Press Shift-S (Or go to Image/Resize on the pulldown menus)

Check Pixel size

Enter 150 as the larger of the two pixel dimensions. (the other dimension should change automatically -- if not check the "constrain proportions" box in the rsize dialogue.)

Choose "Save As" from the file menu.

Select JPeG as the format and adjust the filename so you don't overwrite the original image.

Check the file-size to make sure it compressed to smaller than 20KB (20480 bytes) -- the default compression setting should be good enough.

If the file is too big, go back to Save As and click the options button to adjust the JPeg Compression factor (I use a default JPeg Compression of 70 and have no problems resizing Avs.)

(Note, I use PSP 6.01 and haven't tried PSP 8 -- however, the process shouldn't have changed much. If it has, then check the Help menu to find the resize and JPeg Compression settings.)

thanks for the reply i meant to come back and say i had already figured it out , but thank you.

It is pretty simple.

If you decide not to buy PSP when your thirty day trail runs out, check out IrfanView from www.irfanview.com -- it's a free program that does a lot of the things PSP can do. It's not a versatile in editing, but browsing, conversions and resizing are all comparable to what PSP can do.
