Auto worker's strike

I am so sick of all these economic problems. Was the pandemic not troublesome enough? Now we have writer strikes, actor strikes, auto workers on strike… we need to get our labor in order before the many politicians with corruption in their souls exploit the situation. I pray we can get our act together, soon. A Depression is not a good idea. Perhaps I’m being too paranoid here. Those with better understanding of the issues may communicate their thoughts.

At this point I'm down for a Depression.

So you aren’t asking for babyboobs, wrongguide, and ican’t for their thoughts. Got it.

Their “perspective” is that workers just need to be happy to have a job and they should show up and do it.

As someone who has done the job, I know it is repetitive tough work that only brings recurring physical issues that need to be addressed.

Being paid their worth doesn’t eliminate the pain, but provides the financial means to address it where insurance falls short.

Anyone who finds ways to blame unions are just following the corporate talking points they heard on tv or their favorite blog. If any of them had to work hard a single day in their life, they would have perspective. But as much as they talk about rights, they are sure quick to discount the rights of those families.

The constant drum best of "the work hasn't gotten any tougher so the value of the work hasn't increased". - I e. They should all be paid the same as they did 40-50 years ago.

Except the value of the pay has decreased. So if you don't increase the pay, the result is that the value of the work being done has essentially been shorted.

While I know the UAW is the primary focus right now I think its worth addressing that writing is work and those guys get shorted. Acting is work and those guys. . .okay kinda deserve what they get to some degree but still.

There are lots of things that aren't particularly physical that still deserve to be paid more and we cannot allow ourselves to get split up on this shit. We should probably be putting a pin in NCAA those men and women work their asses off, are usually given a bullshit degree that is useless, a small fraction of them will ever make it to the major league. Many will get injured. Considering what the schools make from merch to tv rights is insane.

The problem for the Detroit automakers is decades of legacy expense structures and cost of transitioning to EVs. Headline from WSJ today:

Whatever the UAW Strike Outcome, Elon Musk Has Already Won

Detroit automakers entered labor talks at cost disadvantage to Tesla

I believe the 40% wage increase is spread over 4 years, which is reasonable. Inflation has really taken a toll. May want to listen to Larry Kudlow’s breakdown of the situation, I believe after listening to his perspective you’ll come away with a different opinion on things.
You're such a liar, as usual you talk out of your ass!

I know who I am and what I have done. You are the one who can’t handle fundamentals and facts.
Did find a way to quote yourself, look at that. Made you feel like you accomplished something.

Whatever you gotta do dude to make yourself feel like you got something.

Ya don’t, but you think you do- but you like being lied to from your “news” of choice.

Got some good sleep, since you haven’t whined about being tired yet.

Right in your face, you lied like you always do scumbag! Again, full of self importance but lack self awareness. Your incoherent banter is comical.

So if you don’t believe it… it must be a lie.

And how exactly do you get to form new truths?

I have paystubs that prove my employment. an employee ID badge… and my experience.

You, have got these grand stories of how you say you wore a uniform and had a “clearance” but yet when it comes to simple tasks you can’t even do those.

You whine about the Lit interface and say you have all these problems. The problems exist in your head for the flawed logic and beliefs you carry. Your brain keeps trying to make sense of it and that’s why it hurts so much and you need so many prescriptions.

The doctors do try to help, but you yell at them too.

But, you have your freedoms and you want less freedoms for others since they are different than you. You are free to have those thoughts but just know that makes you who you completely who you are.

I’m sure some of your money has been staked in but those NFT Cheeto cards and you have a closet full of “my pillows”. Again your freedoms to spend your money as you see fit- just backing the wrong traitorous horse. But you don’t want to be wrong, someone told you once a man is never wrong, so you double and triple down.

Have fun with that!

You talk too much bitch!

The workers deserve a rise. The CEOs deserve a pay cut. GM and Chrysler had to be rescued from Bankruptcy in 2008 with public taxpayer money. Farley, Ford's CEO has just borrowed another $9 Billion from the US taxpayer and said he probably cannot repay it on top of other debt. This is going to end badly for employers, for Unions, for unemployment, and for taxpayers.

But Elon Musk is happy.

You’re right. Even if the unions back off their nonstarter demands for a 32 hour work week and defined benefit pension plans, this is going to end badly for the workers and the automotive companies. Plants will be shut down and jobs will be lost.

Much of the blame falls squarely on DC and California for forcing the overly aggressive mandated transition to EVs. Some laid off workers might find jobs with nonunion manufactures like Tesla. They might have to relocate to right to work states though.

Farley of Ford is paid $16 Million, Mary Barra of GM $32M+. Barra's pay is equivalent to almost exactly 500 average workers. The Union's ambit claim is un-affordable but the CEO's pay is obscene.

Some folk reckon that Musk might buy out Ford. Why? so that he could develop a nice cozy relationship with the UAW. Possibly not. :D

Then nationalize those companies under democratic workers' control. Take them over, and take power out of the super rich's hands.

This morning’s WSJ headline.

Ford, GM Lay Off About 500 Factory Workers as UAW Strike Effects Ripple Out
More than 6,000 workers across Detroit Three and their suppliers are laid off as result of walkouts
