I love feedback and relpy to every message I get that has an address.

I also give lots of feedbck, mainly on old stories and get very littl replies.

I think this is becasue it is difficult for authors to know when they have a new feedback messsage.

Is there not some way to notify authors when a neww feedback message has been posted, as whne there are replies to the message boards?

It can be difficult to know when you get a new item of feedback - especially on older stories.

I have posted 36 stories (plus one submitted), and while it's easy to respond to posts on new stories, when you've got that number of stories and someone puts a new comment on an old story, the only way to tell is by anally writing down how many comments each of your stories has, and then comparing the list with the story list in your member's section.

Not a very easy thing to do if you have quite a few stories posted. I need a secretary!

No response to feedback

I am rather new at this and have two stories posted, one pending. I would dearly love to reply to any feedback, but so far all feedback has been anonymous. So as an authour I do not have a chance to reply. Surely there must be some way of keeping their anonimity and alowing the author to respond to feedback. Perhaps the modorators will devise a way in which this could be done.

Are you saying that you would like some way of being notified that a new feedback letter has been posted to you?

Surely the easiest way is to periodically check your email box where all feedback is directed. I can't think of anything more simple.

If you mean a public comment on the story, well I guess you will have to look into your author control panel from time to time and see if the number of public comments have moved. The thing is, I don't think people who post a public comment expect a reply; they are simply making a comment publicly.

I hear what you say about authors who don't reply to feedback. I think there are many who just don't acknowledge feedback. It's a personal choice I guess, but I, like you, always do respond to feedback with an email address. Aside from the fact that I love getting feedback, I just think it's courteous to thank someone who has taken the time to read my stories and send feedback.

Note the literotica feedback email system is not 100% reliable, sometimes feedback does not reach the author and is lost in some internet void.

Oh, Ok, so it was the public comments you were referring to? It seems that the only way to do that is to check your control panel where your stories are listed periodically and watch to see if the number of comments there changes. As far as I am aware you can send the person who made the comment a PM to thank them, but I don't think there is a notification option on the site.

Yes, Gree_Gem,

But would it be difficult for each public comment to be emailed to the author?

If wishes were horses ...

Thanks for answering

Authours whodo not respond to feedback

Hi All,
I wish to throw an other peice of meat in to the pot, as in an offhand way it too concernes feedback. Over the last few weeks/months, I have been trying, in vain, to solicit the help of a friendly editor. I have written to a few and have not even had the courtesy of a reply.

On another tack I have sent private messages to an number of so called moderators asking their help on a number of topics/help & assistance pleas, guess what no replies.Poor show! I was give to understand help and assistance would be given, if you only asked: well i've asked & asked &asked... you know what; no replies. So come on you guys and galls get your fingers out!! Or am I just a voice crying in the wilderness?

Hey Side-wind-er

I know about the frustration of getting an editor, I had similar problems. If I had any editing skill I would help you, if you just need someone to take second look at it to give you sugestions then PM me. Try asking for help in the editing forum, hopefuly someone would be kind enough to offer you their services.

There is a thread in the authors forum titled "Newbie Support Forum" by Just Legal, she is a nice girl and might be able to help solve your problems.

I personally don't use the public comments because they have a tendancy to turn into flame wars over reader's personal taste and have little to do with an actual critic of the story.

I do use the anomous feedback section and always include my e-mail address so that the aurthor can reply. When included in the feedback that I recieve, I always reply.

One note here, has anyone else noticed a drop in feedback since the public comment section was introduced?

You can always leave your own message on the public feed back section.

I am not interested in feedback that I cannot respond to. I wish there were a way to disallow it!

IN the meantime, posting your own rebuttal is an idea.

Cheers

I've only posted my own public comment once, but not to rebut. The anonymous poster had hoped I would write a continuation. I'm so tired of trolls downvoting (it doesn't much matter if Lit moves them within a week, after the first 3 days or so, your story is history if it doesn't have at least an H), that I did respond re: the continuation...I said I would if it had an H. It's still not up to the 4.5 but more positive votes were added afterwards.

Yeah, I'm a baby.

:)
