Christ, that was quick. Thanks for that BS, and sorry again for the mistake. I had a vella moment, no I mean a blond moment. (She's going to spank me for that one) oh goodie.:p

BlackSnake, you are obviously not understanding what I am saying.

The greatest thing about it is that it appears simple to you. :D
No it doesn't. It appears amateurish, because it doesn't work in a perfectly good, modern and up to date web browser. Only in IE, which uses non-standard techniques that you don't need in order to create a site that does what your site do.
What is delivered to your browser is HTML and other presentation formatting. What I write is nothing that any browser could understand.
I know this. I'm a database/web application developer well aware of the programming and back-end of a content driven web site system like the one you have made. It is the little issue of "other presentation formatting", something that you could easily have avoided, that I am talking about.
Watch closely and you will see that the site will "automagically" start allowing authors to self-publish their work without sharing their profits.
And what does this have to do with you not being able to write navigation menus that are click-able in Mozilla?
There is no way in the world "It is virtually impossible" for you to make any web browser standard HTML web page do what a dynamic page does.
Yes it is. I do it at work every day. I manage and construct dynamic web sites that allows users to create membership accounts, upload and publish content (plain text, pdf files, word documents, images, sounds and straming media) automatically, set access levels to their content, delivers statistics, syndicates content exports and let's users, investers and site owners profit share micro payments in real-time. The dynamic handling is on the server side (I work mainly with SQL databases and ASP.Net fyi) where it belongs, and the information delivered to web browsers is in plain HTML 4.01. Works like a charm.

Your point being?

Sorry man, I don't want to be a pain in the ass here, but when you start mocking my assumed lack of knowledge about something that I work with every day and know better than most, I kind of had to respond.

Hey Blacksnake,
sounds like things are going great! Congrats!

Yeah, authors are helping out with suggesting things that would work well for them.

2 constant issues that won't change:
1)There will not be a message board. Lit is great for that.

2)IE6 or Higher, or Netscape 6 or Higher.

ed to add: Made it compatible with Netscape 7.1 -- cheers to Liar

p.s. Everything is so much better in IE...lol

I've got to admit, the best feature of your site BS is the ability to post my stories instantly. I was going to give you my book as well, but then I noticed a word limit so I didn't try.

Looking good though, keep it up.

The limit is on a single posting of 12,000 words, else you my get an error.

If you have a book that you would like to promote, I will make a link to it in the "Book Store", so reader can follow the link to the site where you are selling it from.

...and in Mozilla, Firebird and Opera too, at least the visitor's interface, (I haven't tried signing up yet.) and that's the important part. Well done!

So you say  ;)

A question about the direct uploading/publishing of stories: It's great for the authors, but how do you handle site owner responsibility legally?

I suspect that one reason Laurel screens all the submissions here is to steer clear of legal booby-traps. Who takes responsibility for the content? To claim that it's the author's responsibility would not cut it with the laws here in Sweden at least - the buck always stops at the site owner, unless you have signed contracts with all the content providers. Are US laws different than ours?

Not much different, freedom of speech and expression stops where it infringes on others.

ed to add: The site is not a porn site.

FYI: There is an extention for Mozilla FireFox which allows one to use all of the oddly proprietary features of this website.
Thus the beauty of Mozilla FireFox (undoubtably the best browser available). One can incorporate the features one needs without the classic IE bloat.

Thank you, I added it to the "Author's Resources Links" on the site.

Better late than never, but I've finally joined the club!

And, of course, promptly screwed up ... I hit the button too soon and it posted a version of my story that was blank. Sorry. Used the site contact form.

Anyway, "The Great American Eat-Out" is now on there, and it has never before appeared anywhere else ... this is its debut! Sorry for taking so long.
