Authors, what kind of offers do you get?

I'm interested in two kinds of offers:

1. Financial deals that come out of the blue. (I had one after Captured Princess, but they wanted vampires and after I researched the offered deal I decided it wasn't worthwhile).

2. Fans that offer intimate feedback - erotic emails, pictures, visits. (Clearly if the fan in question was under 18 it should not be mentioned.) Was it hot or horrifying? Did any of it lead anywhere? When it was unwanted, how did you discourage it?

Had a couple of ghost-writing offers at ridiculously low wages.
Scam editors trying to get me to pay to publish.

Literotica is a great place to improve your skill. Tons of readers and piles of feedback. As a path to fame - I suspect it is a dark dead-end alley. Others, I am sure, will prove me wrong.

Writing is easy - editing is hard - publishing is a nightmare. I bow to those who have accomplished the latter.

I've had paid offers, mostly incest "can you write one about my mom?" I generally stay away from those. I guess it sounds strange, but I like to keep my incest stories 100% fictional and don't want to feed someone's infatuation specifically if that makes sense.

I had one that where he kept raving over my one non con story-which was on the reluctance end, not NC- he wanted me to write a sequel and offered a fair sum, but he wanted the girl flat out raped so I turned him down. He got pissy with me and eventually said I was a pussy:rolleyes:

I have gotten pics and hot e-mails from quite a few women. I find them flattering and after looking at the pic will 'lose' it, I don't keep anything on my computer like that. I always show the wife as well who will then turn it into a role play:D

I have gotten three offers for me to go to them or them to me and those I respond "I'm flattered, but I'm married" so far I've never gotten a nasty response, in fact two mentioned that it was 'sweet' I was loyal to my wife.

The only one that disturbed me and not because it was creepy, but just a are you kidding was one I received for Breaking of Allison where a woman sent me a pic of her chained to the bed, small welts all over her and some hand prints and saying "I so want to be your Allison and it included a NJ address and "You're only three hours away."

The disturbing thing was the common sense of lady, you don't know me, I could be a damn psycho. Then again...she could have been one so men and women who would blindly walk into these are a little crazy to me.

After I posted a few stories to LIT a few of the girls had some fun at my expense with bogus feedback. One of them had some 2nd thoughts about it and spilled the beans on all.

Financial: A book deal that has turned into nine from a non-erotica story here on Lit.

Fans: My story Bound has been a gold mine in the respect of offers and such. Not that I'd take advantage of any of it. ;)

My current publisher came as an offer to publish for profit. A couple of other publishers asked to publish my stuff and paid me for the stories, which I did, but they have gone out of business. Gaydemon paid me to publish my GM stories there as well as here for a year while they were starting up their story service. Stickypen asked me to publish there again after I'd stopped but I didn't like the interaction with their editor so didn't. Menonthenet asked me to resume as well after they'd gone dormant for a while, but I haven't sent anything there for some time. I had started publishing there to have storage for my stories, but once they'd gone off line for a period, I decided they weren't reliable for that purpose.

I've had no offers of a financial nature, but I'm not great at self-promotion. I have moments where I think, I should do this, this and this... following through is an issue :)

I self published two volumes with moderate success, as long as I was doing plenty of social media whoring. This took up all the time I'd normally have been writing. I finally decided I'd proven to myself that my work will sell, but needed to get back to a purer place in order for the words to flow again.

As for the rest... well. A lady never tells. Not for free, anyway. ;) :D

Bottom line for me, I have stuff to say. And if what I say brings a moment of pleasure to someone else, all the better.

I've had offers to die a long and horrible death...other then that, none really. :D

Ditto. And some offers... well, I think back on an old Tom Paxton song. He meets an artist.
...She took me home to see her studio.
She whipped out her paints and she whispered to me,
She said she wanted to "do me" --
And some of that paint will never come off, I know!
When someone offers me their body without suitable preliminaries (like, exchanging names) I am suspicious. Not that I'm anti-gift-horse...

I recently completed a ghost-writing job the size of two dissertations, was paid then asked to re-write massive chunks of it. As much as I do not like disappointing contractors, I also do not want to get burnt out from writing.

Whilst working on the current series, no. But when I was writing Pre-arranged Love, I did. Although my first series was terribly written, I think it somehow struck or stuck with people more. There was a lady that really enjoyed one of my chapters and wanted to post it to her site she was starting up at that time. Something along those lines. The other was a male who eventually sent me a picture. That made me realise what he was after and I wasn't interested in the slightest so I just didn't reply.

My wife reads my stories and makes some very pleasant offers ;) Beyond that I have one guy that sends me really creepy emails after each of my stories post. I've had one other site asking if they could post my stories but that is it.

Timely for the topic got this today, I'm sure many others did as well, as I doubt they have read anything of mine

Hi there! My name is Shawn and I just read one of your stories on Literotica - it's really amazing. Would you be keen if I commission you for an erotic short stories project? I have a $3000 budget and I need a creative writer who does not have any problems writing about hard sex, preteen sex, hybrid human-animal sex, pregnancy and childbirth. It has to be graphic but sexy at the same time.

Sometimes I kick tires to see if there might be something to them, this I won't bother. Judging by requested content this is a cess pool site. Childbirth as sexy? Any woman who has had a child and any man who has been there to see theirs born knows child birth is a lot of things, but sexy?

The preteen part should have clued you in real quick. You might want to pass that along to someone. I'm not sure who but laurel might know.

Seeing it came through private feedback does it break any lit rules? They're not soliciting here on the boards.

Regardless, I'll pass it on to her along with the e-mail he gave to reply to.

It's not, AFAICT, associated with the site and none of it is illegal to write about. Revolting, yes...

1. No, never have, but publishing/monetizing/etc. isn't interesting to me at this point.

2. No, unfortunately, I've never received any photos or propositions, either. I wish. :( I wouldn't act on any propositions, but it would make me feel good. Unless it was super creepy and/or stalkery.

Aside from a few anon comments that have said; 'don't you ever post here again, your work is shit', I've had pretty good feedback from readers.

I don't tend to write really extreme stuff and it's all pretty cuddly and sweet so..I like to think I draw more of that crowd to my work. I've been really pleased with the friendly/not-skeezy conversations.

I get more strange comments on the forums since I opened it up in hopes of finding a good editor to work with. No editor yet but lots of people wanting to meet up offline. <.<

both.

picked up some work which paid for a year's travelling - in se asia, so it wasn't too expensive!

also had a few come out of the blue - no pun - offering to send pics etc - which doesn't enthuse me. i'll write the story if i have time/inclination.

This summer I got an email from another website offering to publish my erotica because they liked what they had read in "The Story of Us."

The problem: they weren't interested in selling incest stories.

"Story of Us" was posted to the incest category and involves two sisters, related by blood.

I'm not sure I understand why they were scanning through the I/T category to find writers to publish and promote if they weren't looking to publish/promote that category, but...um...OK? :)

Offers

I have had requests to re-write my stories from the womans perspective. I have honored one of those, the other I thought a bit difficult to simply compose in a way that seemed logial and wasn't a retread of what I have already written. A white supremacist requested that I write a violent enslavement featuring an African-American woman. I ignored him.

I did get an invitation to read one of my stories (or more if I wanted to) to the members of a 'ladies' literary club'. In return, they were offering luncheon and 'afters'. (By 'afters', I assume they meant a cup of cocoa before my afternoon nap.) When I told the author of the invitation how old I was - and that I was in another country - they went appropriately quiet. :)

After I posted a chapter in my series 'Pizza Boy at the Door' that was pretty much all based around a rather lengthy and intense cyber sex session that was done in the story just as it would have been on instant messages on AOL, I got several private feedback messages wanting to know if I did cyber...and if I did, would I be interested in doing it with them?

One guy I communicated with several times in emails has ended up as a "cyber bud" about once a week or so for the last four years. :)
