As an author of several stories published here on Lit, I have a favorite. I was wondering if you have a "pet" or "favorite" story here on Lit that you would like to recommend to others.

Authors, if you could only recommend ONE of your stories for others to read, which one would it be? Please share your favorite and include a link if you will.

Well, I am not a real diverse reader here. I have two fetishes, incest and feet.

Hmmm one of mine. Of Course SWB is my baby, but its so damn long.

Well I'll go with two At the Feet of My Mother was the one most fun to write because I combined both of my personal fetishes.

The one I am proud of and has really been my most successful is "Home is Where The Heart is" I wrote it as a challenge to try to pull off some romance and it came out far better than I thought Even amde the Mature Hall of Fame.

My stories vary in style and topic a good bit. I'm fond of several just because the challenge was so different. But, just picking one, it would be The Prom. It's pretty short... 6 or 7 pages I'm guessing.

With over 200 submissions as oggbashan and jeanne_d_artois, my favourite story is not always the same.

However, I would recommend The Worst Chain Story Ever Ch 01 as an interesting one.

I enjoyed writing it. The title says it all. I wrote the first chapter of this Author's Hangout Chain Story and intended it to be bad writing. The total number of submissions lived up to the title. Some episodes were never written; some didn't match the other chapters; and everyone did their worst to the characters and the plot (what plot?).

You have been warned. It is humour/satire. I meant it to show what we authors can do on a really bad day.

I know Im preaching to the choir here but this is such an excellent idea for a thread.
I think its so great to have the authors share what their favs are because thats also likely the story most representative of what they are usually going for (maybe not overall but in concept/pacing/etc)
Ive already found multiple 5s that needed me giving them out and a few favorites too.
Its amazing even with how much you are "around" how much quality you can miss.

What would be the "tell her what happened" part? Something like obvious anon comments about the morality of the story vs. the persons beliefs leading one to infer a carpet bombing may have taken place?

Im willing to admit Im in the "working towards that" camp. Theres just a certain part of me dreading spending double or maybe triple digit hours writing a "concept" piece (I have to pour myself into those types much much more than usual just to have it shat* all over.

*shat leading to it being unread/ completely ignored by readers

A wisdom apparently not shared by the dynamic duo of Scouries and Lovecraft.

Although I'm not more proud of it than some other stories--for different reasons--I might recommend my "Tuscan Twilight" series as a purposeful attempt to cover most preferences in a single storyline, which was successful enough for most parts to garner Green Es.

But hey if it makes you feel better my attempt at loving wives is only sitting at 3.9. The comments are worth the price of admission however.

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Red Parlor was more of an experiment for me, but I had fun with Christmas Creep. It's always amused me how my stroke stories score lower than my others.

I readily recognize both tjat you are capable of trolling my stories to below 4 (I had lots of red Hs before you arrived and started your hate campaign)--even though you can't take away the Green Es and the very nice comments or my perpetual place at or near the top of a category "popular authors" listing--and that this is a very popular site for readers to come to who want to read stories about obsessions about torturing and fucking one's sister--mostly because there aren't too many reading sites that permit that sort of stuff.

It remains that Scouries made a cheap shot and you chimed right in. You work as a tag team with him almost as diligently as you've been working a tag team with a fruit cake on the Editor's forum.

I don't think that my most popular stories are necessarily my best. My E story has never had an H.

I have comparatively few Hs on my extensive output.

And you went back because you realized I was going to catch that. You didn't right away and neither did I, then we both went back. Pretty damn funny actually.

I can't speak for scouries(and I would not be surprised if you were right as far as he goes) but I don't bomb anyone. Even scouries. actually after I got to "know" him I won;t even click on his work because I won;t give him a view.

I have looked at some of your stories that weren't GM, but never voted. I liked one of them, but now can't remember the name think it was group sex.

And I don't have the time, nor admittedly the know how to run from isp to isp or reroute things and be able to repeatedly bomb someone or blow up my own scores.

But to go back to something you said earlier in this thread, is your theory that scores don't matter, as long as you are okay with your work? If so what do you care about the scores?

I think it depends on category. Romance and NH and incest seem to get a lot of H's. Other categories are tougher.

Right. Reader interest and story quality are two entirely different animals. Sometimes they go hand in hand. More often they don't. Most readers don't come to Lit. for story quality; they come to get off on their personal fetishes.

That doesn't mean that this thread isn't valuable to other authors who are interested in finding stories by authors that the authors themselves liked particularly for whatever reason--rather than trying to up each other on the basis of ratings. It's particularly interesting to see why the authors pick out the stories they do.

As for my "Tuscan Twilight," it's because I think it fulfilled the purpose I wrote the story for against the high risk of pleasing no one's sexual preferences because I employed so many of them.

I don't. And I'm not the one who attacked anyone on their ratings just an hour ago here. We've covered this ground before. I am consistently at or near the top of the "popular authors" listing in at least one category--and I sometimes make other categories as well. THAT's the most objective index to popularity here. Not the ratings on individual stories that can easily be zapped by trolls (and with your obsession with me I don't believe for a moment that you aren't among those trolling my stories--and then throwing my ratings in my face like you just parroted Scouries in doing).

What I'm concerned with is your years-long swiftboating and jealous and juvenile backbiting of me on this forum.

You just did it again by jumping on Scouries's jabbing band wagon. You have no integrity or principles whatsoever.
