Hey that's great slicknhb. I'd like to read your story ..did you get published on Literotica ? Can I get the link ?
Thanks !

Here you go:

http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=129625

Warning though you might not care for the subject matter since you seem more into BDSM genre. Its a lesbian story with a twist... involving a lactating lady, title is "Breast Pump Blues"

well written and different

Well Slicknhb, I read through your story, and I'll say first of all that you are a talented writer indeed. If I didn't know better, yes I too would have guessed it was written by a woman ..so many of the little details just seemed so right.
I'll also say it affected me emotionally, and for me it lost the erotic value I found myself feeling so badly about the poor Claire having to put her baby up for adoption. It's a compliment to your writing because the character seemed so real to me.
But I couldn't appreciate the erotic value of the nipple suckling because of the sad feelings.
For me, I could have enjoyed the erotic part more if everything was great in Claire's life and she just decided to share this extra delight with a lovely friend.
But again your writing is just excellent - I rated it a 5 on the web site poll thing.

Thanks for letting me read your fine work.

Thank you for your kind words, this lowly amateur doesnt think he deserve such high praise. It means more to me that I was able to reach you at an emotional level rather then erotic. Most writers can make a simple raunchy "slut fuck" story but it's an achievement when you can make a reader feel beyond just pure lust for a character. My next story that I am almost finished with will be a bit more light hearted but still have a little emotion involved since one character has some self esteem issues that are resolved by the end.

One piece of advice I can give you is buy a good thesaurus. I have the mini "Collins Gem English Thesaurus". Its tiny but it's been a gold mine of help to me.

Also I would recomend that you take advantage of the editor's help program. It would be a good idea to send your story to more then one editor and then for your following stories stick with the one you feel most comfortable with. I'm very grateful for my editor, she fixed my tecnical problems and also helped with the flow of the story.

Thanks again for the compliments.

Stories & Thanks

Slicknhb,
Thanks for the good advice on writing.
Now on the stories, I think I would like to write to reach the reader on an emotional level, but that wouldn't be my intention if I were doing erotica. I'd just want to write something that would really turn the reader on. That's why I read the stuff ...sometimes fantasy is just so delicious.
Anyway, I did start on my first story, and I'm trying to write something that would appeal to women. Of course I won't know if I hit the mark unless I can get some feedback, but I'll worry about that when I have it finished. It's kinda cliched, but hey it's my first one.
Thanks for your encouragement you seem like a right nice guy.

Short stories pay peanuts, ie a fixed fee with no royalties.

I've had two pieces of flattering anonymous feedback for "Quid Pro Quo," of all stories, asking me why I don't write short stories for the mainstream market, and that's one of the reasons, besides that the mainstream market is hard to break into.

I agree

SlickTony,
I agree completely with the anonymous feeback'ers. You really could write mainstream short stories. I love the conversational tone you achieve ...it really rings true to life. I felt as though I were reading a professional short story writer. You're very talented.

Professional writing of any kind is almost impossible to break into these days. It takes more perseverence than talent, and short stories typically pay so little that a lot of authors focus on novels instead. But novels take more time and effort to write, so a lot of folks prefer to just publish on places like Literotica, which may not pay, but where you can at least have the satisfaction of knowing that people are enjoying your work. My own single publication, for example, has gotten far less attention than my short stories here.

Still, don't give up on publication, because seeing your work in a traditionally printed format is still wonderfully satisfying, when it happens.

Starting Out

Hey well I'm glad your writing Karen, as I do enjoy your stories. ..they're very sexy.
Anyway I started on my first story, but I'm sort of working it in between some other things I'm trying to write. I'm not too happy with the results so far. ..I know what I'm after but I'm just not there. And I also have to admit it's a bit cliched, but hey it's a start. I just have to accept the fact that my first effort will not be a masterpiece and just finish it !
I hope to get it done this week and then you can critique it for me.

Gerardo, don't rush it! There is no deadline so you can take as long as you need.

For my first story I sat on it for awhile and even started a few other stories. I kept going back to it, tweaking it, bit by bit. It morphed into something entirely different then I first intended but I am happy with the direction it went. So you might want to leave it alone or work on something else and when you come back to it you might have a fresh perspective on it. For my second story I just ignored it after I thought it was finished and just before sending it to my volunteer editor I read threw it and got a huge flash of inspiration and added a chunk of text that added alot of meat to the plot. And now that I got it back from my editor I am making slight touch ups to it. I wont submit it until I am totally satisfied with it. So I say again don't rush it! Wait untill your completely happy with it. Don't pull the flower out of the ground, let it grow out.

Thanks, gerardo!

I'm working on another Taiyiha/Usahar story set in the same universe as "Need & Redemption", which I recall you enjoyed. :)

Hopefully it'll be up in a week or so. As to your own story, don't feel rushed, but do keep writing with an eye to finishing. Remember that writing improves with practice; the more, the better.

I look forward to seeing it. ;)

The cover story of my latest Rolling Stone (which I haven't gotten around to opening up and reading yet) is called "The Twilight of Bob Guccione: The Fall of the Porn Empire." As I said, I haven't had time to open the magazine yet, but this is what I bet I'm going to find: that the Internet, and sites like this, and people like us, are what did him in.

Darned good advice slicknhb. As it turns out, reality keeps interfering with my fantasy life anyhow. I have to get rich so I have more time to enjoy myself on "literotica"

:D

Oh yes !

Ooooo Karen, when I see that title "need and redemption" I feel a twinge. That story was HOT. You had her wanting it soooo bad. And I love a 3some scene ...it's just so kinky and sexy. I'm definately having a 3some in my story. Love it. Good stuff.

And good advice too

Oh Slicktony, how I loved that magazine as a lad. There is one picture in particular that I have burned into my brain ...etched on there forever. I went steady with that one picture for about 3 months. And how I loved the "penthouse forum" Ohhh the memories.

Guccione also had a great SF magazine, Omni which I don't think exists anymore. I miss it. We used to get Forum and Variations also. I think those mags still exist, although I haven't read them for a long time. It's just as much fun (if not more so) coming here. Which pretty much bears out what I said earlier.

At last, someone who agrees with me. I have all the copies I could lay my hands on and still re-read them. It's up there with Astounding and Analog.

Ah yes ...yes ...Forum ..Oh I can remember the first time I saw that magazine. My eyes almost popped out of my head. I mean the "forum" was my favorite feature of Penthouse. When I discovered there was whole magazine with nothing but stories ! ! but I'd quickly race through looking for the fem dom stories, which there might only be one or two if I was lucky. And then came Variations ! It was like I died and went to heaven. My hands would tremble with excitment when I finally got them on a copy of Variations ! OH I was a twisted little kid LOLOL
Thanks for the memories SlickTony !
