I figure if I ever have an Australian character say, "That's not a knife," I'll end up on the "Visa Denied" list.

You need your American character to say that. Then the Australian can say "alright, alright, you win. I see you've played knifey-spoony before."

With an exception for a handful of posh private schools; I've heard some people described as "Knox boys" well into their sixties because they're part of the old-school-tie network.

That is very very true. Mind you, some of those schools are coming a bit unstuck, what with boarding hi-jinks and bullying the younger kids going on.

Still, their daddies are mostly all lawyers from the top end of town...
