It doesn't really bother me (right now!) to click in to see an attachment; hope it does the trick with the server, but I do miss seeing the attachments in fuller form.

One "good" thing about being unemployed: nobody is expecting any gifts from me this year.

A Big Year...

Dragonette... my son and daugher are both older than your daughter...

I know what you mean when you say their age reflects on yours... both of my children married this year... and next year they will both make me a granny.. just think of that...

I don't work either honey... not from choice, but because of a disorder I have. So I know what its like to try and survive on a pension... it's not easy.

But the positive thing is that we are here... and we share a friendship. We can hug and support each other whenever needed.

And a big happy birthday on its way to Dragonette and Jenny.. make sure that you include me in your celebrations...

Mine isn't until March... Pisces is my starsign...

I don't enjoy christmas either

Christmas really depress me as i'll be on my own but have a special phone call from a very special lady who i've been chatting to she and I have a lot of things that has made me hope for more then just chats and emails and i'm looking forward to meeting her in the new year. I hope all on here have the christmas they desire and the new year brings happiness to you all.
To my special lady thanks again for answering my PM.It's been a joy chatting and emailing with you lots of cuddles and kisses.You make me smile

Christmas...

Normally I'd be very excited about Christmas by now..

I'd be busy shopping, and planning Christmas dinner for for all of the family and friends that would visit Christmas Day..

But a lot has happened to our family this year...

When my son married, he and his new wife moved to England to live... so I wont have them with me..

My husband and I separated a couple of months ago..

and he'll be joining our daughter and her husband and friends for Christmas Dinner..

and me? .....I'll be on my own for the first time in my life. I can't help but feel very sad. This year has given and taken so much from me, I can't wait wait for it to end.

But I do have one thing to look forward too... I'll be speaking to a special friend on the phone. He will be alone too, but together we'll brighten up each others day.

But to everyone else here... my love and best wishes are with you for a very special and happy Christmas...

I share your feelings whole-heartedly this holiday season. Last December held great family losses, but at least I was able to get out west and spend Xmas and New Year's with my Mom and close family. 2001 has been like a roller coaster, and 2002 cannot come soon enough!
I have no plans at all for the holidays, but hope that I at least get to see a few friends, both online and off. I consider so many people here in Lit as friends as well, and I wish you all the best season possible.

I don't know you, but even so your post sounded so down. I hope you can in some way find some happiness this Xmas even if it is with your special friend over the phone.

There are things this year which have been hard for many people and even some have had people leave forever (Sept,11th).

Next year will be better for many I hope. If we look only one day at a time, sometimes it works out better.

I hope that everyone in some way finds a moment of peace this Holiday and that we build on that make next year better.

Ahhh my Friends

I feel so close to all of you, my dear friend Ladybird, we will be in touch at Christmas, for me too this is a different year. I left my husband a few months ago, it was my choice though, and my life while it has very significant downs to go with the ups, is most definitely on the rise.

I'm struggling with 2 Units at Uni with exams in February and I have to have my husband here for Christmas day, not a prospect that thrills me but he cannot let go.

xxxxdover, I too know that wonderful feeling of a special person who you have pmed or had pm you. I found such a person in September and have had wonderful chats and very, very long phone conversations. I am worried about him, he had an accident last week and yesterday was blacking out again, and sick as if he had just had concuscion again. He is visiting the doctor today and I hope that will put his mind at rest. We plan to meet in the new year and are counting the days.

Dear Jenny and Dragonette, brithdays at Christmas can be difficult, especially as a child. My son was born on 30 December and I try very hard each year to make sure the 2 are kept very separate. I wish you both the best for your birthdays, and hope the New Year for you, me and all my friends is the year we have waited for, the year where we soar above the problems of life and realise that we have only 1 chance and it is up to us to make it what we want. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission".

On that note my friends, I must go, I do read the thread, just not always enthused to post, I will again, my enthusiasm will return. I apologise for the short essay, but feelings are something that just flow. Catch you in the tub sometime soon, although when my love is on line I tend to spend very little time there but I do try to say hello.

All I want for Christmas ...

...is a teleporter machine.I'd spend an hour or two with each of you who is going to be alone Christmas Day. (& bring a bottle of Asti Ricadonna..yummm!!)
Last year I was alone Xmas Day. My kids went to their Dad at 10am & I spent the rest of the day lounging on the couch, gardening... It was a major change from previous years. I'm the youngest of 8, all my siblings are married & have kids , a couple are even grandparents! The Christmas Dinner table was 2 table tennis tables together, in recent years at least 30 of us. When my Mum passed away almost 2 years ago...that all changed.
This year my children are home & I intend to follow the traditions I feel my Mum set, just with a smaller number.. 4 of us.
So, after all that.. my thoughts go out to LB & xxxdover {{hugs}}
LB, just a thought....have you thought about volunteering at a Nursing Home or Hospital to help serve Xmas dinners or anything like that?

I love you all... how can anyone possibly say that online friends are not real?? My husband used to... and it was a great source of contention between us.

Thanks for your suggestion Spanks... I had thought of that... Perth hosts a large Christmas Dinner every year for the homeless, and I was thinking of helping out there. But thanks to Telstra's 'everyday STD plan' I'll be able to talk to my friend for three hours for $3.00... and I think I probably will!

'Tis the season... not only for the warm feelings of what Christmas can really be about, but especially the togetherness of family and friends. However, for a lot of us, this holiday season seems to be pointing out our individual feelings of isolation and lonliness to a rather large degree.

As I mentioned many times on this and other threads, it's been terribly frustrating to continue to try and get myself started in a new job, the bills have been piling, I'm missing the people I cannot be with this holiday (and the ones who have passed during previous Xmas seasons) and I have days where it feels so unbearably lonely.

Today is again a lonely one (usually by Friday my spirits have dropped from exhaustion!), and my darling Oman is back on the road again, so I'll be relying on Lit to once again pull me through.

My aussie buddies are among the best I have, and although so many miles (and even seasons!) separate us, I feel a closeness with all of you that proves that we are truly not really alone at all! Sharing my feelings on the posts (and in the tub... yes, I'll head back there soon!) have been extremely therapeutic.

I feel alone and very confused right now, but knowing that others are sharing in this emotional state comforts me, and I believe by concentrating more on what we HAVE, rather than what is missing or lost, we'll ALL get through this. Just allow the confused state of mind to pass on its own. I'll likely be alone tonight myself (it's only 9am here now), but it will pass. It will be of great comfort knowing I have all the Lit buddies and stories to get me though.

As soon as I hit the comment on Christmas birthdays,I came to post myself.
I am one of those unfortunate persons who was unlucky enough to be born on Christmas day, not only that,so is my wife.
I beg of any who read this,if youknow someone with a dirthday close to Christmas.
NEVER EVER pass a gidt to them and say,this is for your birthday as well as Christmas.

Form personal experience I can tell you, it is so hurtful,the only thought in ,particularly a childs mind,is, they could not be bothered,and had it not been my birthday,I wouls have received the exact same thing.
i have a grandson, birthday 23 Dec.everyone in the family has been asked to ALWAYS separate hiw birthday and Christmas,so far,it has happened.
And did you know,that neither my wife or i,have ever had a Birthday party on our birthday..

Enout=gh of my misery, will try and wirte a Christmas poem, for all my wonderful friends on this thread

A some of you are aware,I have a serious, deteruiorationg eye condition.Have lost some peripheral vision,and have a central blind spot.and strait lines dont exist in my world,they are all distorted.

Dear me! So many December birthdays!! What were are parents thinking (we know what they were doing)??

Having my special day on December 18th has never really been a problem; I think it's definitely much worse the closer you get to Xmas, and I feel more sorry for those anytime soon after!

I was a spoiled child growing up (widowed Mom; no siblings), but as I grew a bit older, it did annoy me greatly when I'd see "happy birthday" scribbled at the bottom of a Chistmas card. The week distance allowed me a little breather to have at least a birthday dinner. One long time friend made the "mistake" of wrapping my birthday present in Xmas wrapping! Then she commented on how "strange" it must feel to have holiday lights and music on my birthday. That year, I kept my small tree up and running until her birthday rolled around the end of March. She came around and I lit the lights, played the music and presented her birthday gift in Santa Claus wrapping!

Honestly though, I enjoy seeing everything lit up on my birthday!

I would definitely make sure you and your wife, P, make a special point in at least having a birthday dinner. And please don't concern yourself with any typos. Your lovely thoughts come through quite clearly for the rest of us.
