I've managed to sort out my ISP & popped into chat last nite. I dont think its 'the place' for me .. not sure how to respond to PMs without sounding rude.Also once I point out I dont cyber more often then not the conversation ends! Grrr ! I agree, I usually only go into chat to talk to friends, I rarely cyber.
The proper etiquette is to ask before PM'ing, but that rarely happens.
Some people create a line that says that... Don't PM me until you have my permission.
Otherwise just say No Thanks!
I find the majority are young males and they think everyone wants to cyber!
Don't let it stop you from chatting to your friends, but only when you are ready for it.

Interesting to read the varying views and opinions on cyber.
may I put a lone male viewpoint,and some observations.
The onservations first.
dragonette is right when she says yhere are a lot of young males there.I get the impression many look for older women,to teach them something,they occasionally PM (private message Jenny) me in error.

they do not seem to know what a profile is either.
Then there are the creeps, whom the ladies tell me, have as a first line

So what is cyber?
Is it just two people,looking for very basic sexual gratification,or something much more meaningful and moving.

Cybering

I will admit that my initial reaction when I first discovered Lit was to experiment with the idea of "cybering". My initial adventures consisted of "one-timers", trying out a variety of users (discovering quickly to stay away from the younger guys <wham, bam, thank you mam' types>.

However, I soon tired of this activity, and began to discover the kindness and the friendliness of my fellow "tubsters". Jenny found herself heading straight to the hot tub each day, and not being as eager to accept the PMs that would trickle up her screen (I was only kidding with my ignorance before!).

I realized that the "Jenny" in me was actually taking on a lot of my genuine traits, and I become more and more comfortable with my onscreen personna, and more honest and in touch with my real emotions and interactions with others. I no longer was "cyber-ready", and instead began to look forward to the community chat within the tub instead.

And then came my introduction one late quiet night to "omahaman2". And the rest is history, with more chapters to come!

I was soon to discover how popular and well liked this Oman was, and how very protective a lot of the other ladies in the tub were regarding him. (Still have a few small bruises!)

You all know how much Oman and I mean to each other by now. But if there is such a thing as "fate", then I believe we are examples of two people who very nearly would never have met each other. If he had entered my life any earlier than he did, I would likely have not been the same, more realistic "Jenny", that he came to discover and love.

What all this comes down to for me is that "cybering" in itself is more like fantasizing yourself in an erotic story (and there's certainly nothing wrong with that!). However, there are a lot of ladies (in particular) who will interpret a second or third go 'round with another user as a "commitment". I won't speak directly for him, but I am aware of a few hearts truely broken after Oman and I became a "cyber couple" in the tub. And I know that it was never his intention to cause anyone any hurt feelings.

So I would be careful when engaging in repeat cybering performances with anyone; unless you're willing for the chance of some sort of "commitment". Please make it clear what your intentions are as early as possible (easier said than done)!
