Heavens, Mr Elf! How on earth did you manage to get a headcold at this time of year???? Not very clever of you! I hope the darn thing has gone by now. They're a misery in the heat.
As for Elves of varying sizes..... while that could be very, um, interesting, those gamer bods just can't help tampering with nature. There are some self evident truths; some clutched to the chests of Americains and the others relating to the wee folk. While I'm sure there is a Lephrechaun in the bottom of my Smirnoff bottle, their elf cousins may be larger but still wee folk. Large elves is just ludicrous proposition! (Yourself excluded of course
) Spread by Peter Jackson so he could use Australians in LOTR.
Mmmm. Hook turns, are they?Ooops. Still horrid and best avoided by moi. I remember Brighton Beach. I hired a bicycle and cycled down past there to Black Rock (I think that's the name) Was a very loooooooooong day but was super fit in those days....... And my cousin lived at Noble Park.
I loved shopping in the CBD down there, as well. Loved Georges. Is it still there?
The gear cost a bomb but was everlasting.
I solved my Christmas present problem for the adults by making fooooood. Stuff they like but wont make themselves. Kids stuff was dead easy.
Just got to get through the next 4 days dealing with stressed pre Chrissy travellers. Boxing day is a day in hell.People are usually mellowed a little after Boxing Day.
Oh, I had an interview today. Will be a while b4 I hear how it went.
The thought of driving in Sydney is enough to make me shudder violently and ask for a return ticket to home ASAP...
Whilst I will sing the praises of Melbourne as being the best place for food - I would be remiss if I didn't toss a few bouquets in the direction of some of the country towns I have stopped in.... for instance, one of the best Thai meals I have ever had was in Goulburn, Malmsbury bakery is a dieter's worst nightmare and the most delicious fisherman's basket was sampled in a remote little village somewhere in the Nullabor...

Farewell, my friends!

Trisk,
I think I got the head cold from all that sweaty running around on those hot days, in and out of air con areas. I don't normally get colds easily but I also think I was a bit run down since I essentially hadn't stopped since I left work. I spent several full days doing lots of things in that heat. Feeling much better since mid week though and have slowed down long enough to get some rest. Still can't sleep past 6:30 am though, usually takes me a few weeks to get lazy enough to stay in bed longer.
Now whilst not an expert on elves I have discovered that that there are different casts of elf from the High Elf to the smaller Wood Elf. The Darkelf is a bit of a rascal and basically not much for authority or for those full of themselves. I hope you aren't confusing elves with fairies...whole different thing. Now did you really go the size thing...you women...and you reckon guys think of sex all the time...naughty girlSomeone is in need of a nipple tweak
Not sure why a Leprechaun would be in vodka bottle unless he has an AK47 strapped to him. I know of worms in Tequila bottles, but that's mainly laziness in their bottling process. More cost effective to leave the worms in the bottles. I also know of goblins in beer and cider bottles, but that's about it.
You cycled from Brighton to Black Rock? Why? Catch the bus. However these days there is a thing called the Hell Ride which happens on Saturday mornings and involves rather aggressive bike riders taking over the road. It started as a fun thing but has now turned into a protest ride for all angry cyclists who think they should be allowed to own the road. They actually make a point of pissing off cars driving down there during that period and they don't stop for pedestrians either. They knocked down a man in his 70's using a cross walk a few years ago and then went on to blame him for crossing the road at the lights. Its got to the point now that the cops show up just to ensure things don't get out of hand. It only takes a few crazy fuckwits to turn something fun into a war.
Yep Georges is still in business, but there are lots more places to shop in the city these days. When I was in my 20's I used to go to city every weekend to shop or go to the movies since there wasn't much else around. I even remember Bourke St before the mall. The Block Arcade hasn't changed that much. The laneways have more coffee shops these days. I know a way of getting from Flinders St. station to Bourke St without getting wet on rainy days. They even do tours of the laneways these days. Best option is to catch a train into town. Easy place to walk around, no major hills well ok there is the one going up from Collins St, but that’s why we have trams.
As for the hook turns that nothing compared to freaking my friends out when I drive on the tram tracks. They still get a little nervous when I do that.
Good luck on the job! I'm looking at making a change myself next year. Need to confirm some figures first, but the change would be good for me. It would certainly scare the crap out of people.
I hope everyone had as good a day as I have had!
Kidlets around me, good food, great pressies....
And now home in the silence of my place, drinking Black Russians, and enjoying the rest of the day
Happy Christmas, everybody![]()
Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you had a great day with the kids good looking Frisky
Belated Happy Xmas here too.It was a good one - I did achieve a few fitness goals among the usual Xmas events.
Good on you! I'm afraid my self discipline flew out the window as soon as i unwrapped chocolate.Need to work on that...........

Hey there, Mr Elf!
Hope you're resting up now and fighting off that cold. We all need to get fit to get through Chrissy day!
An intrinsic knowedge of all things 'wee folk' is passed through the celt blood to each generation. Great insight is also to be found in the depths of a Glennfiddich bottle. The Guiness also provides great meditative powers but only after the second rapture of 'Ahhhhhhhh's. Personnally, I find the deepest inspiration in the cool smoothness of a Baileys on ice.
The cycling to Black Rock can be blamed on the enthusiasm of youth and a 'coz it was there' attitude at the time.It was a lovely day, from memory. And there was this path most of the way.
I do remember some press about that ride and how it was taken over by malcontents. What a pity.
I often wonder what would have happened to our cities if people hadn't mobilised to stop the bulldozers and wrecking balls of the 60s and later.
Everything would have looked so different and these tourist favourites just wouldn't exit. They were accused of being such heinous hippies at the time. I love Little Collins St and the plan was for it to be leveled, as well. There was a huge tussle over that one.
Yeah, you and taxi drivers like to shake up outsiders on the tram tracks!
My sweet, passionate friend is an alternative lifestyle sort of person. She's studied with indigenous peoples all over the globe. Her take on 21/12 through the Quero and Hopi (I think) is that the date heralds a time of change, not on a day but over time. She's very into it and I worry about her, if things don't live up to her expectations. For me just getting a decent job near home with leave entitlements would be a great change!!! Good uck with your quest, as well.
