where'd'ya go?
curious minds,
want to know!

What we had: Roast lamb (very tender), baked home grown vegies, fresh strawberries straight from the garden & BANDIT:heart: had bread & butter pudding which she loves, I had home made custard with fruit.
We both came home very pleased.

Where: A pleasent little place not to far from home (not the Ramsgate RSL either).

diet is an evil word!
Had homemade hamburgers for lunch - I make my burgers with minced beef and bacon (love the bacon flavour in there!)
I am one of those wierdo people that carries a filter drink-bottle everywhere.
I should be out in the garden, but can't be bothered as I did most of it yesterday

Well it seems as though both Frisky & W.Q. enjoyed there day with nature.

We have lots of very highly filtered water here & I always have a bottle of it with me when I'm out so you can beek me in to the weirdos with you W.Q. :D

lol. Evil word AND evil deed!!

Bragging about your lovely hamburgers is NOT easing pain of diet!! :D Yum, bacon adds a certain something to rissoles, too.

If carrying filter drink bottle everywhere is wierd, then more people should be weird. It's a very healthy habit. I can't carry water out back coz the dog snitches any thing I put down. My gardening tools are all chewed!

Been cooking chicken soup in between gardening. Smells very good. (I'm fixated on food now. can you tell??)

AND the most interesting man with the most LUSCIOUS voice delivered my wifi set up today. OH MY!!!!!!

Frisky, The only diet that will work & keep working for you is one that dosen't have you feeling hungry all the time.

Wierdo's unite!
I just cannot drink city water at all (tastes all wrong with fluoride and chlorine), and I was fine with rain water till I found a half-decomposed bird in my house tank!
Britta makes a water bottle with a charcoal filter - it's with me everywhere.

I basically follow the diabetic eating plan, but with a few alterations.
I eat a lot of pulses and legumes instead of rice (even if it's brown) and I only use extra virgin olive oil.

Weekends are like a orgasm.. It's takes a lot to get there and when u finally do it's over in no time!

Sadly my renal & diabetic diets conflict & both dieticians want me to use their diets :mad: why can't these people work together as I'm only one of thousands going through this same thing.

A couple of years ago I got down to 83kg but now it's 87.5 kg before my weight was a consistant 95kg but I feel a lot rounder than I was.

My dentist tells me I should drink more tap water to get the benifit from the fluoride with not having it adds to poor teeth condition. There has been a massive increase in tooth decay since the bottle water craze started but I prefer the nice clear taste of my highly filtered water.

When in Canadian rockies my sister lived in a place that the water supply was from a natural spring that worked it's way to the top of the hill which all the hoses tapped into, it also supplied the hydro electricity used there too with about 15 homes all drawing from it. They also had their own phone system within the small community set up by one of theor founding fathers, I got to talk to him several times learning about the difficulties from their early day, a wonderful peaceful area to spend time in.

white foods = sugar, milk, cream, flour (in all it's forms), pasta, white rice, cauli and potatoes (because nobody ever eats them without something on!) and salt (salt is a big no, I use a lot of herbs and spices instead)
exceptions are - fish, yoghurt.
That's just a quick list, there are more items. Basically, you're cutting out all foods that act the same as simple sugars on your insulin/cortisol levels.

Most of those I don't eat - except pasta, cauli & tatoes. (nothing on my veg) :)

Btw trisk - all your gardening talk got me motivated, and I've been out over-using my arm!
I should be cross, but I feel good because I've cut down a horrid tree that I really needed to get rid of, and opened up a whole new secret section of the garden :)
My boys are not happy tho, coz I've had them carting away the debris!

OOppss!

Hope your arm is OK. Secret bits to garden are niice.

Just don't tell your boys where I live.........

I tend to doubt the fluoride thing - there's more than a few studies now that show it's not the fluoride, because people in non-fluoridated areas show no more decay than other people who drink fluoridated water. Apparently, it's the brushing action and frequency, plus flossing that makes the difference (btw, fluoride is a massive carcinogen - cancer rates going up in western societies, hhhhmmmmm??? Makes you think!)

Tell your specialists to get their act together and sort your food! They are there to help you, after all!

Professional rivalry between these two, maybe?? Maybe they don't understand enough outside their expertise to be able to consult each other and work a plan. What does your physician say? Sounds bloody stupid to have such a conflict over you.

I drink tapwater in Canberra at times but not here. The town has no filter system, no flouride and every time the bug count is high in the water pumped up from the river, they just add more chlorine! Sometimes after a shower we smell like we've been swimming in the pool. I drink bottled or tank water and when the kids were small I controlled the flouride they had in liquid or tablet form.

Your sister's place in the Rcokies sounds idyllic. The sort of place i would adore.

Well all my bloods are fantastic. phosphates, potassium etc so BANDIT:heart: & I stick the what is working for me, the only time I lose weight is when I'm in hospital as the food is shit & sadly isn't suited to either renal or diabetic diets all the hospital is interested in is costs with no concerns about health, diabetic menu consists for breakfast has this little white roll that is like eating a rock & kicks me blood sugars sky hight & jam that is normal sugar jams not carb modified jams suited for diabetics.

They are not alone as doctors seem to only think of their field of medical treatment & ignore any other health issues the patient has.
As for my renal specialist I have spent a lot of years training him up to understand that what the book says dosen't apply to everyone & I'm way out of the book. I have educated seveal of the resident renals doctors too & on a rotation end one came to thank me for showing him to pay less attention to the books & more to the patient, most totally ignore what a patient tells them.

I was on BP meds for a fair while before my trip but kept getting light headed so went to the local doctor who took me off my BP meds as I was lower than normal, Very relaxing community, I wish I could have stayed there, fell in love with things there, so easy going.

BANDIT's:heart: specialty is lamb chops & she has them a lot of the week with 2 fried eggs, vegies & potatos.

We go for lunch ones a week at a takeaway place where wee can sit outside, BANDIT's favorite there is grilled fish burger with egg, it's her workouts at the gym that keeps her fit & trim.

Does your hosp allow you to bring your own food?
That's what I do if I have to go in - because you are right, the food in hospital is completely inedible!
Last time in, I brought a whole bag of fruit and veg. That was pretty much all I ate during the day, and then the man brought in a hot dinner for me.
I can't do milk, but for some reason they insist on porridge with milk for brekky! I told them that but it made no difference - every day porridge and milk would turn up like clockwork. I felt like I was in boarding school!

Once a week, I go to my local Indian place for a super-hot vindalloo. Then I have to walk the driveway for the rest of the week to burn it off!
But it's so scrumptious, I can't help myself
And although I can make any other curry authentically - I just can't make my vindalloo taste like his does!

We get options for meals but don't expect to get what you ordered & with me fruit is a very limited option as there is as much sugar in most of it was have several spoons of sugar so out for diabetics apart from very limited amounts plus the fluids have to be accounted for with the renal.

Last couple of times in I've survived on salads with a bit of some meat usually ham, LOTS of BEANS though  the ward echos with the sounds of farts & not just from me.
The meals come from the cheapest tender for the contract with the place they come from around 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from Sydney. no consideration for nutrition at all only costs.

I love my porridge & it is fantastic for lowering cholesterol levels plus I like it with just a bit of vanilla essence in it but the hospital version are more like novilty items like fake vomit you see, it's hard but still slightly flexable, totally tasteless & is always cold. :(

Neither of us like spicey foods so your indian place would never see us there, BANDIT's:heart: version of curried egg sandwiches is about as spicey as it gets here ..... well food wise that is. ;)

Just got back from the doc - checkup on arm.
Off all anti-inflammatories and heavy pain meds... now on muscle relaxants. They work for the pain as well. Hopefully this will reduce my pain a bit better!
Also, made the decision to go private for surgery. Will cost a bit, but I can't afford to be out of commission till mid-next-year

So are you saying your getting you arm fixed now & not waiting in pain?

Staying public - initial surgical consult late feb next year, surgery approx 5 to 6 months later (if I'm classed as 'serious'. if not, then about a year wait) Free.
Going private - surgical consult early november, surgery within 6 weeks after that. But exe.
