Just had a bit of a shock, I was surfing the NZ news sites and found that an elderly and well respected couple in the area where I used to live have been found dead in their home. It appears to be a murder/suicide as it was reported that the wife had a terminal illness. Here's the link:

Shit.

I knew a guy who did something similar.
He was so distraught after his wife died that a week later he was found dead in his shed.

a sad sad thing but that is what they choose.

they were planning to open a paint ball park not far from here but the locals complained that it would bring to many of the wrong type of people around,
cant have people who want to run around having fun and geting exercise

Aha - this explains why they don't let me into your part of the world anymore.....I like to have fun and get exercise

The kids have requested a cooking morning and then a picnic with the goodies we make... so that's the plan.

and all you have to do is help with the cooking and do all the cleaning then find some food that can really be eaten and load it and the kids in the car to take for the picnic supervise all of that and then bring them all back home...... boy you get it easy

I knew them, though not well. My ex and I were friends with their son and my daughter was friends with their granddaughter until she went away to school. It seems their son found the bodies as reported on another news site.....shit I feel for him he has already lost a brother many years ago in a climbing accident :(

Is a very sad thing indeed but also very brave and selfish at the same time.
To make a decision like that and then go thru with it must have been hard.
probably not as hard as seeing his wife go with the illness though.
