It might help if you tell us what sort of accom your looking for... also where (coastal, central...)

close in to the city centres. i am happy enough with the geography of melbourne and sydney. perth is more of a dilemma to me.
hostels are good, but since i have a spouse along for the ride, clean with own shower is a must

I'd have to have a look around and try find some of my booklets on the places around perth. I dont know a whole lot about hostels and such around the place as I tend to be more of a hotel person.... nothing nicer than a hot spa or buffet breakfast. :)
Are you planning on going to just one or all three?

it's no prob if you haven't got any suggestions off the top of your head. i have an idea about Sullivan's hotel near Kings park, so don't go to any unecessary trouble.
we are visiting all 3. sydney, cos i could include it in the fare. melbourne cos i lived there and my wife hasn't been yet, and finally perth cos my dad is there. (live in karratha in the early 80's)

I don't think I've even seen Sullivan's before...
Hope you don't catch too much rain when you go to Melbourne when you go.
It rained half the time I was there last time I went, I went in about Feb though so you'll probably catch better weather.

jan should be pretty decent in melbourne. it was always august that pissed down if i remember correctly. mind you, that was the 70's and i've drunk way too much since then. :D
