Thank god the next get together will be here here next year, as I neec to replace some parts on my wheelchair, and it'll be costly!

it's great to have a good eletric wheelchair that was designed andd bbuild by the best company that deals in this areak, but good god are parts expensive!!! $695 USD just to buy a new controlller!

If my body was good enough, I'd have to whore myself to pay forit. The Government gave me (so I 100% own this wheelcihair) for free, only thingis that I pay for repairs.

This modelis 5 or 6 years old, and cost over $15,000 AUD to buy, the later models are around $12,000 AUD.

still cheaper than a car!
so far, repairs this year have cost me over 3k....

while i would never put down a worthy cause - i have to question this one.
if you do the research, you will find that breast cancer death rates have not gone down since mammography became accessible to women.
in fact, they have increased out of all proportion to the number of positive mammograms.
why?
because mammograms miss many more cancers than they detect.

i have the research on paper here, and if i can get my scanner working, i'll scan it and post.

i have made the choice to go for ultrasound rather than mammogram, because the ultrasound picks up 93% of positives, whereas the mammogram sits around 37%.

(edited to add - the reason there is such a huge amount of pressure for mammography, is because of the enormous sums of taxpayer dollars available each year.
it has nothing to do with results, and everything to do with $$$.)

on another note - i have nominated to 'shave for a cure' next year (4-6 may), so i shall be hairless for a while!

Did manage a quick drink with Scummie in the land of the crow...but didn't catch up with any of the sunshine staters...was far too overworked and underpaid for anything like fun!

my 'hair' is staying right where it is, thankyouverymuch!
whereas my hair is disposable

(i have given up waxing and shaving certain parts of me - nowadays they get clippered neatly, and everyone can just deal with it!)

most times you grow back more (shaving splits some of the hairs, so you end up with more volume from the same number of follicles .... which is why in india, they shave their babies 3 times in the first 3 months! and you know how much hair they have! i did it with my 3 kids too )
