Aussies! Check in here!

Afternoon all,

It seems that the fire at that residential tower block in London could happen here due to the same type of cladding being used in towers built in Melbourne and other capital cities in Australia. We have already had a couple of small fire incidents in tower blocks over the past couple of years. Just because it was a govt housing block doesn't mean we aren't at risk. Seems we don't learn from past mistakes of using cheap building materials.

Winter has definitely settled in for a while. This week is the first week I actually have felt cold during the day in the house. One thing I have realised since resigning from the work force a couple of years ago is that you have to pay for your own heating and cooling during the day, not sure what proper pensioners who can't afford heating are doing.

Hard to keep up the exercising routine in this colder weather, but one must persist even though reluctantly. On the positive side there are sales on so walking around a shopping centre could act as a substitute.

Called thermal underware and blankets

Not sure why, but thermal underwear reminds me of those old cowboy movies with that underwear with the bum flap.

Yep I've resorted to using the spare doona during the mornings if I'm watching TV. No heater for me last night. It just wasn't that cold, well for me anyway. Different story today with the showers.

Afternoon all,

Well has been and will continue to be a busy week. Out and about nearly every day this week. Took advantage of the mid year sales at Spotlight. Didn't realise the membership card (which I only got to make a purchase) would be useful at yearly sales. Most of these cards give you bugger all unless you spend up big.

Went looking for a new security sensor light. Hard to find one you can install yourself. Just about all of them require a sparky so that's at least an extra $90 on top of the price for the new unit. Also found a solution to those new segmented screws. Had to buy a small bolt cutter, but not happy that I had to buy another tool just to change cupboard handles.

Also looking for photo scanner but the one I wanted was out of stock. Obviously not an issue for the current generation, but old blokes like me have a stack of photos in albums. Not easy to share with family and friends. So digital is the only way to go.

So more terror attacks in Europe. The recent one in London shouldn't be mistaken for anything other than that even if the guy is a Welsh white guy. Retaliation against innocent people should still be condemned. We really don't know how lucky we are in Australia.

We have a thread! Lovely!

We are so lucky...I often wonder if many ever actually realise this. Despite it all, we're a very blessed nation.

On a side note: I'm so happy the maroons pulled out with the win! My heart could barely handle it! Great game!

Anyway, I'll just make a little home here. Happy Thursday, my Aussie-peeps! :rose::kiss:

As a (mostly) neutral observer, it was great to have a game with such excitement leading to a decider back in Brisbane rather than a game for consolation at best.

Agreed! Nothing worse than the Origins being won by the second game. What's the point in the final game if it's already been won?

Can't wait! *wiggly toes of excitement* :D

Edit: And hi James! I am so sorry, I was so excited I forgot to say hello! :rose:

You're not alone!

Not much call for it up here thankfully :D

I suspect I'll be able to contain my excitement, though it has the makings of a good match for a number of reasons.

Hi to James too.

I am a little excitable....

Mornings are cool but today beautiful 20 degrees, where are you from..

I'm in the southern area of Victoria these days. Though that changes frequently. So it's been cold here for a while. As a Qld'er, I am still not used to the cold. lol.
