Aussies! Check in here!

lol..I have been to Melbourne just once in my life. A long time ago. And I don't plan on going back.

You sure you're not getting Melbourne confused with Sydney.

We have better coffee, restaurants and sports venues oh yes and the shopping is apparently better as well.

Afternoon all,

Well the big wet is on in the southern states. Was watching Landline on the weekend and the BOM is predicting a very wet Winter so lots of indoor activities I believe will be planned except for kids who will no doubt drive their parents nuts playing in the rain. Ah yes the joys of youth.

And they are still counting, now LNP has 70, Labour on 67. Funny how three English speaking democracies are sort of in the same boat at the same time. No certainty of who is going to govern. Putin must be telling his comrades..."see I told you a dictatorship means no uncertainly...you don't do as I say you die, you challenge me you die...easy to remember".

Le Tour is off to an interesting start. Much better than previous years where nothing much happened for the first week. Unfortunately looks like the Aussie hope is already done due to a puncture. Still its shaping up as an interesting first week.

Nope I'm not confused. And I am not weighing into that Sydney- Melbourne rivalry thing.

We Queenslanders are above that petty stuff.:D

Oh except for the FNQers and the SE Corner. Bring on a partitioned state I say, and make the border north and south of Rocky.

Saw a story on electronic voting today that could deliver results in minutes not days or weeks. Despite systems already in place to enable security (banking and tax returns) opponents/sceptics claim the paper trail (useful for scrutineers) make it hack-proof.

What Melbourne - Sydney rivalry? There is a clear winner. Ah a Queenslander that explains a lot. Seems you lot will decide the final numbers in the election. Warm up the banjos. :D

Unfortunately govt IT systems won't make electronic voting possible the lucka bands would develop stress fractures, besides its supposed to be anonymous, not much chance of that on an IT network.

Afternoon all,

The Sun, The Sun..and no rain, ok its only for a day but still it gives one hope of not constantly being rained on when there is stuff to do. Busy week just gone, happy for a rest day. I'm supposed to be a person of leisure these days.

Heard that the kids go back to school on Monday so its safe to once again venture forth to a shopping centre. Had to think twice about a lunch option due to the invasion of kids and families at my usual weekly lunch spots. Why can't kids play in traffic like we used to as kids. I mean most people driving in a city are already pissed off anyway, the annoyance of a few kids on the road isn't going to make a lot of difference.

The election...are we there yet? No doubt there is going to be a recount in some seats so this is going to drag on for another week.

More rain again tomorrow in Melbourne town and for most of the week so staying dry will be the main goal, although it does help the water storage. No doubt there will be people who will still water their gardens.

Good afternoon aussies!
Well, exciting times all round! Our election has been a complete shambles, and has delivered us, near enough, another hung parliment. Last time we had one of these, we got the NDIS. So hopefully our new govt actually gets shit done now!
Brexit seems to have backfired somewhat. Not sure what they thought would happen - it was pretty damn obvious to the rest of the world!
I've been super busy playing with my new dehydrator. Biltong and droewors have been made, and recipes have been adjusted :) Also, drying fruit and veg as I buy it... making loads of healthy snacks.
My business is doing its thing nicely, given that I have done no promotion, advertising, etc. I don't even have business cards! It has all been word of mouth.
Thank goodness someone told V8 supercars that their fan base was getting uber pissed off at not having the races on fta tv! Finally, I get to see them race again! (I should mention here that I am going to Bathurst this year! Sydney first, and a catchup with bandit and gil - from here many yrs ago - then Bathurst, then back to Syd.)
Apparently, a cold snap is coming to Tassie over the next few days.... Like, what? It hasn't been cold here already???
Hope you're all having a great weekend :)

Yeah Queensland -the state that gave you (again) the fucking Fish n Chip woman. Not mentioning her name. To do so would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Mind you, who gave us the Human Headline? hmmmm?

lol Deliverance is right! Oh, in the same vein, I watched a movie last night here, an Aussie one too. Real dinkum accents, no American major star in it either. It was about a guy, his wife and her sister who go fishing in the NT. In a little tinny. Giant croc attacks and they end up sitting in a mangrove tree for most of the movie, wondering how to get out, how to get the boat, how to avoid the croc. Pretty gory, lots of dramatic tension. Great scenery. No idea of the name though. No, not Croc Dundee!

If you think up the name, let me know. Sounds like something I would watch.

You folks think your elected officials are for shit? Will you please take ours - all of them - off our hands?

And I've come to realize, surprisingly, that there aren't many rugby fans here. But those who are, please tell what's going on with your Super 15 teams?

I did manage to find it. All I had to go on was 'crocodile movie, Australia' and apart from turning up the obvious (Crocodile Dundee), I see it had 2 titles.
One (for the Australian market I guess) was Rogue. The other name (for the US market I suppose) was Black Water. Sam Worthington starred, Mia Wasikowska (a gorgeous blonde) and Radha Mitchell.

It's been labelled a totally believable croc movie. it's more what you don't see (ripples in the water, light patterns on the water) than what you do see that makes it so scary. Real crocs used/clever editing.
As the web site tells us:

There is no back story or expository dialogue. It is a simple story of a tour boat being in the wrong place at the wrong time. There are no crazy urban legends or hunters/reporters looking to make money off of the giant crocodile. We don’t get an overacting John Voight looking to capture it or a foul-mouthed Betty White feeding it.

Many times, you urge them to wade faster, don't stop, keep going for the overturned boat. No, try to turn it over from the other side! Get a longer branch to reach the fucking rope trailing in the water!

It was made by the same guy who made Wolf Creek.

You folks think your elected officials are for shit? Will you please take ours - all of them - off our hands?

No thanks. We might consider a trade: Pauline Hanson for Donald Trump. She is 100 times worse than the golden haired boy.

And I've come to realize, surprisingly, that there aren't many rugby fans here. But those who are, please tell what's going on with your Super 15 teams?

Can't you google it?

Hey WQ

Good to hear things are going well and that you're engaged in positive stuff. I've heard about Biltong but never tried it, but never heard of droewors. Although speaking of food, reminds me of what I found funny in the adds for Campbell's that Manu does. His accent makes it sound like Camel's...."Ah yes Camel's soup, gets you over the hump."

Yep I heard that Tassie is in for more flooding today and probably tomorrow. You guys are going to need to a row boat in each house soon, never mind the caravan. I'm still waiting for the rain today, lots of wind but not much else. But like you guys were going to cop it tomorrow apparently. Stay safe.

Yep I remember seeing the same movie a few years ago. Our version of Jaws although our scenario is more likely, wouldn't be the first people in a small boat attacked by a croc. They should put that on a tourist poster.

The main difference between she who shall not be named and Trump is that she has no chance of being in charge. There are genuinely people in the US who want Trump to be Pres...now that is the real issue. Hinch will soon say something that will screws up his time in Parliament so no real problem with him. Overall it will be entertaining in Aussie politics, down side is we're going to be back at the polling booth in the next 12-18months.

I don't think pollies in the US, UK or Aussie land are wanted in either place. They have pissed off and annoyed just about everyone. Just shows how out of touch they are with the people in each of the countries. Any group that calls themselves the "Ruling Elite" as I heard one of our politicians call himself, sees voters as peasants. If things don't change there will be a revolution of sorts everywhere.

Afternoon all,

Well the start of another week so I was thinking positive thoughts as I decided to engage with processing my Medicare claim on-line, well I was positive till I used the system. Then it basically went down hill. The process is not what I was lead to believe also didn't help my deteriorating mood when the website just stalled. This is supposed to be more convenient than going to a Medicare office. Bullshit! They then had the cheek to ask me to complete a survey so I did and shared my experience with the survey only to be told I typed too many words in the notes box. Fucking website is crap and their survey is crap.

I hesitate to think what the app will be like. I think I'll have to cool down before even thinking of using that option. Really its just easier to go for a drive and visit a Medicare office and get a coffee while they process my claim.

And on the positive side we have a govt voted in again, now we just need to tell the AEC to stop counting...we don't care guys.

Can't you google it?

That's what you get paid the big bucks for. Thanks! :D

Yes, I agree with all of this. Especially here, although none of referred to them by that term. Yet. They just act it.

Golly, it's cold down here in Melb.
Bought 1/2 a tonne of split red gum today. $190.00!!! and that's not even the delivered price.

I've been blessed with firewood over the years. Lived next door to an arborist, periodically he dumped a load in the driveway. Every now and then I'd leave a slab by his front door. His marriage fell apart and he sold up.

Anyway, the fires lit, slow cooked shoulder of lamb in the oven, decent bottle of Barossa Shiraz opened, life's all good. :)

Afternoon all,

Yep its cold in Melbourne town and even colder in the country areas of Victoria. I know Woodend is one of coldest places I've been thru. Its always cold in that town and it gets black ice in Winter.

Turned on the telly this morning once I ventured out of the warmth of my bed and saw the shocking reports from Nice. Once again mass casualties from a place in France. As some point the ordinary citizen will just have a gut full of these idiots. It is certainly a different world these days.

A thought:
When you put a sausage in a roll its collectively called a 'hot dog' and not a sausage roll.
When you put sausage meat in a rolled up bit of pastry it's called a 'sausage roll'.
When buying hot dogs at the supermarkets you just get the manufactured meat sausage thing.

Well another week down and its time to think about tax returns. Accountants become popular for a couple of months.

Got back to one of my long term console games with its latest updates. Its now kicking my butt all over again. I've somehow gone backwards in levels and have to remember how to play it again. Hope your weekend goes smoothly and that those in the southern areas don't freeze their butts off any further. The gas bill is going to be higher this Winter for sure.

Hi aussies:)

Friday night, and I'm going out again! Dinner, drinks, maybe clubbing....

Sad news from Nice today :( Wondering just how long it will be before the retaliations begin in earnest....?

Bloody freezing here in Tassie.... hopefully I'll be warming up later ;)

I had the best night!
Dinner, drinks, dancing..... my calves are sore as hell from dancing in heels and I am unable to crouch down to pick stuff up at the moment.

Turns out, I can still dance the ass off most people less than half my age. Does an ego good to have young guys lining up to dance with me!

And then.... I went all predator and picked up... and an excellent time was had by both .... ;)

I need to do this more often!

Hey WQ,

Good to hear you've been having fun and projecting your inner cougar. Guys dancing...what is the world coming to :D

Afternoon all,

Well it was a rather warm night all over the country for a Winter's night. Didn't need to use the heater last night. But its not going to last obviously, lots of wind since last night so hang on for a colder half of the weekend.

Saw the rip off about to hit people with solar in NSW and probably the rest of the country. 5c/kwhr is a rip off and once again its the power companies dictating terms, so much for the clever country.

You just can't get away from the news on politics happening everywhere.
- The Republicans in the US should startup a circus. Speeches stolen from other people, divided party members, Cruz knifing Trump in his speech. Hilary must be thanking her God for Trump.
- Turkey looks like descending into a one man state. They just don't get how democracy works in the Middle East.
- The Malaysian PM in money laundering....allegedly, just like its Winter...allegedly
They just need to play with puppies, the dog kind not the other thing.

Well the nbn is finally coming to my area although they aren't locking themselves down to a time, well it does say it will happen some time between now and Christmas. Its like being on the waiting list for elective surgery.

A thought: Cat people shouldn't worry about the cost of their funerals...their cats are just waiting for them to lay still long enough...a little salt and pepper..dinner is served.

On a happier note, made pizza last night and watched Le Tour, even if the winner is already decided the scenery has been excellent.

Afternoon all,

Well just got my tax done and as with the previous year it was simple and quick. In fact took longer to get a receipt ( thanks to their computer system) than doing the return.

Had no idea the census is on next week until I saw one commercial earlier this week. Has been very low key this time. New method is to get most people to do it on-line. What could possibly go wrong...65% of households logging in to the same website and completing an on-line form...how easy is that...not!

Saw a report earlier this week suggesting that the female sex drive diminishes after 3yrs with the same partner and women look for a new mate after eight years with the same partner especially if she has had children. Mind you blokes are thinking..."didn't need a research study to talk about the lack of sex...just needed to ask us".

Been looking at the US conventions via the US shows. Stephen Colbert is really putting it to both parties just to show how absurd things have become. The choice between a shouty orange man with a dead animal on his head vs a grandma who is technology challenged..."my fellow Americans....run!"

Yet another week has gone by with more lone actors killing people. Its becoming an uneasy norm in some countries. France again in the news over the recent one. It seems society has gone backwards to a less safe time in the previous century.

The Le Tour has finished but fear not sports fans the Olympics starts next week. Not sure of the time difference. Funny thing I also found images of the 2018 Winter Olympics...must be a time warp thing.

There are exceptions to every rule ;)
One of the complaints from a previous partner was that I 'expected too much sex'.....

Hey WQ:kiss:

Yep I'm sure there are, but at least now its not seen as just guys making stuff up and the spokesperson for that study was a woman.

Well now a guy complaining about too much sex...obviously you were with a guy who was out of sync with your needs. I guess you'll just have to conduct your own survey :D

Afternoon all,

Well just smell that new month..oh wait that's the rain. Making it difficult to make time to get out in the garden. Don't mind the cold just not keen on getting rained on all the time. Haven't had a chance to use the new brush cutter yet.

I see that Ashley Madison is advertising again, this time with a bored married woman cutting a cucumber looking at her husband. Not too subtle on the symbolism there.

Are we all excited about the Olympics starting later this week? No doubt everything will be ok on the night if you're watching on TV. Apparently the competitors for the water based events have been told not to open their mouths due to the revolting water quality. Add that to the athletes village having plumbing issues and the high chance of being robbed. Maybe they should have virtual sports for future Olympics that are a bit crap.

Interesting how it took 4 Corners showing those shocking images to get the govt's attention considering the govt and the media knew about the issue. The power of images over written reports. It seems commentators are already indicating that it is a just smoke and mirrors activity since nothing was done about the outcomes of previous investigations. The pollies have ticked the box so they feel they can move on.

Hope the week is not too painful for everyone. Only another month of Winter to go so hang in there.

Yesterday was a truly beautiful day here. Not a cloud to be seen, just vast blue skies.
Also, I found a part of me again.
Keep smiling all.
