Aussies! Check in here!

Good morning, another lurker from Melbourne.
Long time listener, first time caller

I have a question that's bugged me for some time.

DarkElf
You're a pie man with a Tiger avatar?

I think MIC summed it up rather well, the above is strictly a post for locals.

I could never follow the 'pies' I have my own teeth. As for the Tiger av well I like Tigers also born in the year of Tiger so you see no footy references and I do like moist pie :D

..."huh those Ahseas are speaking their own language again how do you root for a pie, I thought the tiger av referred to the Bengals in the NFL fucking don't get it"

Just read the first line in my sig line it explains it.

That'd be hilarious if it wasn't for the seriousness of the insidious infiltration of the American popular cartoon culture and, in particular, the Disney conglomerate globally. Australia has had it for years. China, more recently.

Chinese people apparently can't get enough Disney. Witness the new Shanghai Disneyland. I've seen the new TV ads that show a little Chinese girl being magically changed into a princess and Mum and Dad then taking her to the new Disneyland.

Chinese people dressed up as Mickeys and Minnies are regularly used to promote innocuous products like tissues or beer.

Even the gated community my wife and I will be moving to soon looks 'kitschy' with herds of concrete deer, Snow White and Dwarves, and other characters filling the landscaped areas. ugh..

Still funny though, thanks from me.:D

Not sure if I've got the story right but is the Shanghai one where they are demolishing local homes and relocating people to build it?

Afternoon all,

Well the thread has really kicked on in the last few days..."its alive"

Had in interesting conversation with my telco the other day. Learnt something more about the NBN or rather the lack of the NBN. Wasn't paying much attention to it previously since it's not even close to coming to my area, however I'm now not impressed with the whole NBN cu vs fibre optic or fibre as some people call it.
Then just to confuse people there is cable so you can have cable NBN apparently I'm assuming that's just NBN cu. Requires more research.

Michelle Bridges must be thinking.. "finally they are talking about fibre"..calm down Michelle...have a sandwich. Apparently she hasn't met a happy fat person, just self absorbed body image people.

Saw the press conference with the AFL Chief Exec commenting on Eddie making yet another unacceptable comment. Good to see they are doing something although was it enough not sure. Was interesting when McLachlan asked the journo's when did they know about the comment and why didn't they speak up about the incident a week ago. The journo's went all quiet about it and changed the conversation. Some discussion of maybe people were scared to speak up because of Eddie's power, which is part of the problem.

Hopefully sponsors get on board with the women's league next year, will be interesting to see how that translates to bums on seats.

Evening aussies :)

Nice to see the thread fairly clipping along! Makes a body warm, it do!

Know what else makes a body warm?
Having the first real dinner date in over 20 years, that's what!
Yep - me, this coming Friday, heels, sexy lbd, a restaurant, and good company... which may or may not develop into something more

I feel desirable again!

I check this thread from time to time. Despite some of the wisecracks and odd expressions, I have a blind spot for Australia and the people. And I really did enjoy visiting a few years ago.

So keep this going!

Good question! I don't know, but it's a fair guess that happened. Look at what happened to the historic hutongs in Beijing - many demolished. Money and lots of it has power to move mountains - and people if needed to be removed.

I have a feeling it's already up and running too, going by the TV ads.

Bewdy cobber, if ya need any help with translatin', someone oughta chip in and give ya a hand, orrigh mate.

It'd be more likely you'd be told to fuck off, not rack off. We don't 'purify' or water down our crude words like you goshdarn (god-damn) potty (shitty) mouth septic tanks.

Actually, most every Aussie I know do not hold back. Part of the charm.

the welsh would go fookin' mental if they could hear ya lump them in with us english! :D

the scots had their vote about that. it was a squeak, but they're brits.

the northern irish aren't however, but they're in the UK. :D

italy are nowhere near the push-over they were. and they've got a new head coach - connor o'shea - who's just left harlequins for the job.

Meant to reply to this sooner, sorry. :)

Yeah, I know. Scots and Welsh wouldn't like it.At least the Irish p;resent a united squad, no matter what part they're from.

Italy ain't pushovers, got that. US might be in 15s. We have Sevens going for us now heading into the Olympics.

Here's a little factoid for you. Turns out my Italian grandmother never became a US citizen, so I was eligible to play for the Italian national team all these years. But, not one letter, post card or phone call!

Bastards... :D

There's been so many friends dropping back in after a long absence, I figured I should join in - worked out I haven't connected to Lit since around Valentines Day, so lots of catching up!!
So good to see DarkElf and WQ keeping the thread alive -

Been an age since I've been in the not so sacred realms of Lit. I was scoping for faces, see two .... three "old faces". Waves to WQ, Robe and of course the loquacious but ever erudite, Elfie:kiss:.

The envigourating Ms Moon! :rose::caning: So good to hear from you again

Hi, darkelf, it's been a long time since I've popped in here to say hello to you! I hope you are having a great week so far!

BF - great to see you!

Evening everyone!

I am in a glorious mood tonight... my new business hasn't even begun yet, and already I am being asked to quote for work! Tomorrow is my first one :)

Hey WQ - know its old news, but congratulations, thats awesome! quotes lead to orders leads to cash - eventually!

new to Lit browsing around and finally found some Aussie's

'finally' found some Aussies? You didn't just shout 'Aussie Aussie Ausisie' and track down all the OIs like we do? Amazing how well that works.

I've been doing a lot of travelling in the intervening months - Singapore, LA, SanFran, Chicago, Canberra a couple of times

Currently in Darwin this week, missed the huge Sydney storms just gone on Sunday by only a few minutes.

Oddly, haven't made it to Perth for quite a while!

Seems like lots of hotel rooms with occasional holidays at home!
I really really appreciate coming home to my own bed these days!

It's good to see you, too! It's been a very long time. MONTHS! You must have had a very busy summer! How are you?

MUAH! Barefootgirl - swingy-roundy-bearhug! Physically I'm great, but work is a mess - a startup that I own a chunk of (so can't really walk away) taking way too long and too many moving parts - some weeks it's really like nailing the proverbial jelly to a well. Nothing that a month of sleep and a long vacation won't fix, when the money finally comes in. The original plan was "get filthy rich". 3 years later its "get possibly reasonably well-off if sleep-deprivation doesn't kill us off first".

How about you babe? whats been keeping you from brightening up these echoing halls?

So... I've just checked the weather for Friday nights date..... And it's going to be fucking cold!
There goes the sexy dress showing my calves in killer heels idea! (And the heels are soooo sexy, they'd have made him want to lick up my legs!)
Dammit :(

I'm glad to hear you're great, even if the rest of it is a mess. You would soon grow bored if everything went off without a hitch! I think you should sleep first then go on vacation. Don't waste the vacation time sleeping, that's no fun!

I've been busy preparing to move back to Southern California! No more snow in the winter, yay! Just one more hurdle to leap over, and it should be done! Hopefully, I won't fall flat on my face, or my backside! :D

It's winter time for you! I wish I could send you some of our heat wave!

BUT - you can do this anyway! Wear a snuggly, plush coat over the LBD, then take it off at the perfect moment in the warm restaurant! You'll know when to reveal your assets!

Good for you, to have sexy heels...let the leg licking begin! I can't wear those.

You go, girl!

Oh I can send you some of the heat here as well...36 degrees last night: steamy. Waiting for the rain that's been forecast all the past week.

you can have some of my rain. but you gotta take the kamikaze frogs as well. keep finding the bloated buggers dead in the pool after the rains.

I wonder what causes that. Run off of chemicals into the pond?
Walking through the riverside gardens here the other day, late in the afternoon because it's too hot before then, it was wonderful to hear the frogs croaking in the lotus ponds...and watching the pairs of birds flying at jet speed through the stems. How they missed them I don't know.

Weird, a city not too far away (Chongqing) is copping really heavy rain, almost flooding parts of the city.
