Aussies! Check in here!

Hi guys...
I am back from Busselton (WA) just in time to catch the hot weather coming to Tassie.
I spent 6 wonderful days with my sis, and the morning of the 7th she was admitted into a palliative care only ward and became unresponsive. Not long now :(
I'm seriously glad I got there in time, and got to see her while she was still able to talk and interact.
My Christmas will be somewhat subdued this year.

You were in WA and didn't look me up??!!!:(:(

Hey WQ:kiss:

Sorry to hear about your sister's condition and so close to Christmas as well. It is difficult but the memories will continue. Have a friend OS who lost her dad in a similar manner so will be a sad time for her. The main thing is that you had the chance to spend time with your sis that's what counts as the world keeps turning. Time just lets us cope. :rose:

Holy shit! How fucking hot is it!?!
I feel like a crispy critter....dehydrated and shrivelled.
Another hot one tomorrow and then hopefully, rain.

How fucking hot was it...eggs were jumping into frypans to cool down!

So glad the cool change came thru, yesterday was much nicer, even got my new tablet delivered, more like a large mobile phone, anyway something new to play with over the festive season. Now I have to buy a case for the delicate little thing.

Feels like its warming up again today, not as cool as yesterday so more heat on the way just in time for my annual trek to the country for Christmas lunch, very long day for me.

Afternoon all,

Well not long now, can't wait for it to be over...Christmas that is. Then its drinks time and then a new year. Can't wait for the new year to start the countdown to official (early) retirement and getting an income again. If only people would stop trying to get me back into the workforce.

Been out in the garden and it was a bit on the warm side so these cooler temps in Melbourne town isn't going to last long. Thoughts with those near any bush fires, especially those in WA at the moment. Seems the country is on fire in a couple of states and its bucketing down in the top end. What a country!

Hope your Christmas week ends with a sit down and a cool drink.

Evening all....

Finally! Christmas pressies are wrapped. I HATE wrapping :(
Tell me again why I didn't use the lovely volunteer ladies who charge a dollar per present, do an awesome job, and donate the money to charity???
I did a good deed though.... I made sure I bought a little something for my elderly neighbour who is all alone, coz everyone should have something to open on Christmas day :)

But..... I am totally over the Christmas music, the crowds of sheeple (shopping people) and the hoards of screaming kidlets running rampant every-fucking-where!
And if I get offered one more mince pie at another shop, I may be spending Xmas in jail :( Vile, disgusting, calorie-loaded bitelets of yuck, and you just KNOW that they're home brand cheap shite ones as well!

Apart from that, I'm coping remarkably well. Considering.

Hey Sugar Tits , good to see the Christmas spirit was with you. You should given me a shout. I'm an expert presents wrapper. Do it every year for my mum. Get compliments every year.

I was over Christmas Day before it began. Wasn't looking forward to the long hot day in the car. It was nudging 40 where I was. Didn't get home till after 10pm and the house was so bloody hot and just to add some Christmas cheer the smoke alarm battery was bipping. So I was hot tired and had to get up a ladder to change a fucking battery to get rid of that annoying noise. And just when I thought I was done the driveway security light played up. Happy fucking Christmas.

May your New Year be comfortable, relaxed, and stress-free.
All the very best for 2016 :)

Well no it was hot, sweaty and the only relief was sitting near the air con most of the night. Thank goodness for the booze. Anyway Happy New Year and I hope your 2016 is better than last year.

Afternoon all,

Well its a new fresh year. I was going to say virginal, but well this is the wrong place to assume that. Still a little tired mainly from the heat and not getting any proper sleep with the fucking hot weather here in Melbourne town over firstly Christmas then New Year's. Had no interest in joining all those hot sweaty people in the city for the fireworks, only to breath in all that humanity on the train home.

Almost missed the fireworks on the TV, was frankly too hot to care, thankfully the air con was working even with the high temps. I noticed they showed the Rose Parade from the US which was interesting considering it was 12 months late, i.e. it was still 2015 in the US and it hadn't happened yet.

Obviously a difficult new year's for those in the bush fire zones. No fireworks for Adelaide and places still evacuated along the Great Ocean Road. No celebrations either for some cities in Europe due to threat levels. A new year it might be but the old problems still persist. Hopefully this year will see these troubling times come to an end and the world can become a little less nuts.

Afternoon all,

Well its the first proper week of Jan 2016 and the working year has begun for some. The reno dudes down the road started their year off by digging into the sewerage line on that property so it was a pooey start to their year. Obviously their minds were elsewhere. The local water company rep was not impressed. Obviously he was hoping for an easy start to his year.

Still humid in Melbourne town, they keep predicting rain and it keeps not showing up, obviously a GPS issue, its gone north. Did some hacking of trees today then began my own list of things to do so the year is officially not new anymore.

Hope people in Sydney are finding a way to stay dry, although I still think they all should buy a boat with all that rain that keeps coming down. Not long now till the weekend so keep smiling.

Happy New Year everyone!

Yes, it has been a bit dry here in Melbourne. Would be nice to get a little bit of that rain, though I don't envy those up North who got flooded.

Hey all,

New Lit Member from WA checking in here, hope to chat to you all around the boards, and who knows! Maybe meet some of you in future!

Good morning :)
Finally managed to sleep properly last night - stitches and bruising settling down. Might even be able to sit reasonably normally today!
Another mini- heatwave headed our way over the next few days.... time to bring out the skirts, methinks.
Frustrated that I can't get rid of word prediction on this new tablet  annoys the shit outta me!

Hey Queenie (((hugsssssssssssss)))) and 's

Great that you got some much needed rest.................and skirts hey.......let's hope for a windy day ;)

Afternoon all,

Well a nice cooler day here in Melbourne town although not looking forward to the 40 tomorrow. Summer temps are all over the place thus far but as mentioned by an earlier post we haven't had any decent rain in Melbourne for about two weeks a bit of light stuff last night but really need some decent rain to cool the place down.

For those contemplating the tennis it looks like a pleasant start to the first week. It seems Jan has become tennis month all over the place.

A thought for all those impacted by the recent bushfires and the fire crews battling those fires.

Hey WQ

Good to hear that you're on the mend. I'm hoping for an illness free year, certainly hope that illness I had this time last year is dealt with.

Yes that word prediction is annoying, there should be a way to turn it off in your settings. I now have my own tablet is was free, but now thinking what to use it for since plugging things into it is not straight forward, apparently doesn't have enough grunt to link to a portable hard drive. As for the one finger typing, not a fan. Its like having a large mobile phone.

I lovelovelove having a tablet!
So much easier than trying to look at itty bitty pictures and words on a phone :D
Plus - I use mine for kindle, because BOOKS!!!

Not quite an illness-free year for me..... turns out I have an infection in one of the suture sites :(
But! Both lesions were cut out with good margins and I don't need more radiotherapy!
So there's that :)

That's great news WQ, apart from the infection. :rose:

Another 40C day forecast here which is killing my motivation to accomplish anything.

Hi kiss :)

The medical news has me bouncing around... :D
Well, not exactly bouncing in reality - more bouncing inside because, pain.

It's going to be humid as all hell here today. Unusual for Tassie. But we are in the 30's with cloud today....

I have been downloading loads of books this morning, so my day will be relaxing with kindle.
I'm supposed to rest..... Doctors orders!

Well with all this technology it gives people more choices and yes that's what I can see as use for the tablet, like a big mobile phone, now all we need are big pockets.

Sorry to hear the op wasn't hassle free, obviously the good news out weighs the bad.

Afternoon all,

Well we finally got some rain and cooler temps here in Melbourne town although a little later than predicted. The house has finally cooled down from this morning. It was 42 in some suburbs yesterday now its a cool 15 in the city and the rain has just about gone away in time for me go out to dinner.

Hopefully the rain has helped the bushfire areas since some fires were still burning as of this morning.

Tourists starting to arrive for the tennis starting on Monday. Should be a cooler start to the first week, nothing in the region of 40 predicted thus far.
