Aussie advice needed

Jesus Flagg, that's gonna cost a fair amount. Did you know it's cheaper to fly overseas for us than State to State?
Anyway try Virgin Airlines, they do a fairly cheap service, but you don't get fed on the plane, I'm really not 100% if they do Perth, but you can try ... http://www.virginblue.com.au
See how you go, if not you have the choice of Ansett or Qantas ... yes that's right, we have only three airlines here. I'm not sure of their web pages ... sorry.
I dunno maybe try http://www.qantas.com.au or http://www.ansett.com.au
I don't know what else to suggest, I'm sorry. Anything you try for Australia add the au at the end.
Flagg sounds like your doing some major travelling there, good luck and I hope you enjoy our country. You know you could maybe try the Train services too, but it's like 20 hours from here to Alice Springs, and your trip is like double or maybe even more than that.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more help, I don't travel all that often, quite simply because it does cost so much, and I have to pay a further 75% for my son to tag along too.

I tried the Qantas website and they offer A$1015 for the flight. They do it via Brisbane and it takes almost 9 hours!
I guess coming from such a small country, I was under the illusion that domestic flights would be fast and cheap - guess I was wrong!
I'll check out Virgin. Also I've heard they are a lot cheaper when bought in the UK - don't know if its true.

cairns is a great place, i live near there, you'll love it, just be careful of the sharks, and the public toilets, HAve fun

I'm sorry to have been the one to inform you of the huge prices of our flights, I'm pretty sure that from Perth to Brisbane would be about 6 - 8 hours, it's 4 from Adelaide and were next door LOL.
Okay now another thing I can suggest ... or ask ... is if you are going to Sydney or Melbourne, flights to Brisbane are cheaper from there, so you could maybe do Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane OR Perth, Sydney, Brisbane. With Virgin it's like $90 (AUS) or something like like from Sydney to Brisbane. Mind you flying from Perth is going to be the killer price wise for you.
I just don't know what else to suggest, I'm so sorry, but babe don't pay that much for a plane ticket, you're being ripped off if you do.
Have you thought about Standby flights, you could maybe get someone here to do some calling around for you, see what each company has to offer.
