The lady that's known as... Lou
Lou ducked into the kitchen to send Tonsillitis off to bed. Tomorrow was soon enough for dealing with any questions from the NWMP. Besides, she wanted to talk to Tonsillitis on her own before hand. And... Jedediah.
"Lou!" The sourdough's face lit up when she walked in. "It really was Jedediah's gun lying by old Lars, you know."
"We'll talk in the morning, Tonsillitis. Now go get your bath and rest yourself. I'll come fetch you from your room in the morning when the Constable gets here. Oh, and use the back stairs. I don't want anyone getting their claws into you."
Looking a little disappointed that Lou hadn't made a fuss, Tonsillitis smiled wanly and made his way upstairs after saying goodnight. Lou took a deep breath and watched him go.
It almost seemed as though Tonsillitis was desperate for her to believe that Jedediah had killed Lars. In fact, Lou had no doubt that the gun, when Fraser retrieved it, would be Jed's -- but there still remained the why and the how of it. No matter what, Jedediah Jackson didn't have a mean bone in his body and neither did Lars. None of this made sense, dammit!
Leaving the kitchen, she looked around for her lover. Fletch caught her eye and smiled meaningfully, nodding his head in Jedediah's direction where he was sitting at a table at the other end of the room.
Walking over to him, she tapped him lightly on the shoulder. "Got a minute for an old gal friend?" she asked, tilting her head toward her office.
