Another option, is to get a patch cable for the headset jack of your cassette player to the "Line In" jack on your sound card. Do not use the "MIC" jack on your sound card The voltage level from a headset jack will fry circuits expecting microphone voltage levels.
Set the volume as low as possible in the cassette deck to minimize stress on the "line in" circuits. "Line In" circuits are only expecting a 1 volt peak to peak signal and "headset out" can easily exceed that but can also be kept below that if you're careful.
