Does anyone have a solution for a way to record audio stories (both hardware and software)? I would like to have a software program that will allow me to edit and cut & paste a story together. I’ve checked out a few but didn’t like the how the software worked. My husband has some equipment and I borrowed his old M-audio box but I can’t get it to work….

Tell me which softwares you have tried. Are you trying to stitch segments together whereby you record five minutes and give yourself a break to relax some more?

Try Acid... which ever version it is on. It is a step up from Audacity and Soundforge in that you can sequence audio files by means of actually viewing the wavefiles. You can also give Traktor a whirl, but that is geared more towards DJs.

my hubby uses protools to record his music, I've tried it but ..... I should have purchased a Mac notebook

Audio set-up and software

Easy solution... Go to Target or Walmart and purchase a chat headset for the PC. I prefer Logitech and I buy the higher end unit (around 40 bucks) which is USB and has dynamic noise reduction (DNR)

Next as was previously said, get a copy of audacity from sourceforge. In my professional life I develop online learning and we exclusively use uadacity for tweo reasons... 1. simplicity, and 2. it's free!

With audacity you can identify an area that is wrong in the recorded story, select it, then press record again and it will insert edit the correction (on a new "track") that you then "flatten" onto a single track. It is the easist audio program I have found. I am working on podcasting using Audacity as my audio recording and editing solution... and it is cross-platform which is nice. Mac/Windows/Linux
