Can someone tell me how you go about submitting an audio poem? I've got it as a WAV file.

The FAQ search, as usual, came up absolute blank for me.

FAQ ;)

If you've recorded yourself or a friend reading your story or poem and would like to include this with your text, simply submit the audio version as detailed about in the "How do I submit my Audio?" FAQ.

[>>>If you would like to have your audio heard by our listeners, attach your Wave (.wav), Real Audio (.ram or .rm), or MP3 (.mp3) file to an email addressed to audio@literotica.com]

Then, in your author profile, submit the text version under the "Text with Audio" or "Poetry With Audio" category. At the top of the submission, place the words "AUDIO VERSION SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL" Then, attach the audio file to an email to submit@literotica.com.

Yeah, the two FAQ answers have two different email addresses, so I when I recently submitted some audio poems, I addressed the email to both at the same time. ;)

I had a bit of trouble finding the answers too but I finally did. It was kinda complex, and one thing I wasn't quite clear on was the address to which to email the audio. I just tried submitting three poems a couple of days ago and there seems to be one place that one uses to email JUST audio, and another address (submit@literotica) for audio that one is submitting along with a text. I sure hope I did it all right.

Another concern I had was that it said one had to make a special note if one did NOT want one's email address to appear with an audio submission. I wasn't sure where I was supposed to submit that note, but I put it everywhere I could think of just in case - on the text submission AND in the email with the audio file. There seem to be some special notes that one has to make about the text going with audio, and it's possible that the text of those three poems will post with a big note above their titles that says "AUDIO VERSION SENT VIA EMAIL" or something...

This doesn't necessarily reflect on the FAQ section itself - I am notorious for not being very good at finding my way round those sorts of things. However, I might suggest that the part about showing an email address with an audio submission be set to default so that it doesn't show, rather than that it automatically shows unless you say you don't want it to. Seems safer to me.

We'll see if I did it right after the poems go through and post...

Jesus. I forgot to say "AUDIO VERSION SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL" on the text submission. Am I screwed?

Could this be a little more complicated, you think?

And how come I can never find ANYTHING when I search the FAQ?

I searched "audio" "titles & text" and it still came up empty!

Well, I feel a little better, anyway. I thought it was just me. Usually it is.

I think I landed in some category regarding submitting work. Not sure now. I had to open a second window while I went through the process, to keep all the info on the screen so I could use it as a checklist. I seriously doubt I could find my way back there; it was just dumb luck that I landed in the right place. At least, I hope I landed in the right place.

I am a relatively smart person, under most circumstances. I AM. HONEST.

Literotica is the only site on the entire World Wide Web that uses certified Neolithic software.

Yes but one meets such cool people...

And as everyone knows, here in Kansas we build everything out of driftwood and animal skins anyway, so to me this is really high-tech...

We do???

This is what I do...

I typically upload the wav directly to the site. If you go to the FAQ and go to Multimedia Submissions then look for Audio Submissions there is a link for uploading a file.

1. You will need to identify yourself, either by Lit name or email address,

2. in the comments box I usually indicate that the text will be submitted by the normal form and provide the title of the poem and my Lit name.

3. Locate the file to upload. It will take some time and is finicky at times so I would try to avoid anything real disc intensive while the file is uploading. When the file is finished it will switch to another screen announcing the successful upload.

4. Go back to the normal submission form and submit your test, but in the comment box tell them you have uploaded a wav file, give the name of the file and who you listed when you identified yourself.

The result should post sometime within the next 3 to 4 weeks. Audio files, like the illustrated poems are usually posted every so often when they get enough of a backlog to post a bunch at a time.

Hope that helps...

This will take you directly to where you upload

Three to four WEEKS?

Color me really, really sad.

Speaking of all this, are there ways to attach mpeg files to a post? Should I just ask my personal geek or does one have to do something special for putting them on the Lit threads?

You can only attach files with the extensions .bmp, .gif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, and .png. If you want to share an mpeg, you'll need to have it uploaded somewhere else on the web and link to it.
