Does anyone know how to keep Winamp as the only sound playing (music) if I also open a web page, like a game, that also has sound. I don't want to be blasted with rude midi's or shockwave music when I'm listening to a song.

Right now what happens is that both play on top of each other.

If anyone knows, thanks!

I have the same problem, and it's rather annoying I'll admit that. The reason is that the person who created the webpage, designed it so the music will play in the background. Sometimes there is a player that you can stop the music on, or a link to stop the music. But just as often that option isn't there, so what sometimes help it to click the "stop" button in your browser window.

Otherwise I don't know.

Hi ShyGuy! I haven't run into you for so long!

So you know what I'm talking about with the audio, I hope we can do something about it :)

winamp

The point above is on point. And often the only way to stop the noise.

In addition to that, you can also adjust winamp as the default player by futtzing with its settings. Those are located in (Options.. system.. media) in winamp. if you tell winamp to become the default player for all those sort of files, it may catch some of the unwanted extra media players from turning on. This wont always work, but often it does.

Good luck.

Hmmm.. I don't think you can temp. disable the sounds and stuff from the WWW sites but you could open the "Internet Options" section of IE and in the "Advanced" tab you can shut off all the Multimedia effects for WWW pages so that they never play at all...

You'd have to switch them back on again if you wanted to hear them when Winamp isn't playing...

??????????

Another possible solution is to open your "Mixer" and mute the MIDI input so that MIDI files aren't mixed with the other intputs to th sound card.
