How do your significant others feel about your role-playing or cybering activities? I’ve had three people who were involved in role-play threads with me quit because their RL partners were uncomfortable. They did the right thing, working to preserve RL relationships, and to meet those commitments. In my own life, I wasn’t sure how Madam S felt, and decided to suspend my activities until she and I had the time to talk it out. I had her read the threads that I was active in to be cretin that she knew what I was doing. She did, and has no problem with it. Has this been a problem in your real life relationships? How have you resolved it? Why do you role-play? Are you getting something out of it that is missing in your RL relationship?

On a more theoretical vein, what is the relationship between fantasy and reality? Does one fund the other, or is it a more complicated relationship, with them feeding and building each other?

I once had a cyberhitch that was jealous of all the RPing I did with another woman. Lady number 2 had quite a few characters but Lady 1 thought every different character was another woman. According to Lady 1 I was dating eleven other women all at the same time and she was the only one that realized it.

Samuir .. did'nt mean to hijack the thread but I've never even opened the R/P area ... Can't answer that... the only thing that makes the wife mad is bringing the laptop to bed with me and surfing the web late at night...
