ATTN: Michael Moore

I didn't watch the Oscars, but that was the most obvious choice for an award since Pulp Fiction won for Best Original Screenplay.

I am a tiny bit disappointed that he didn't take the high road by not turning his speech into a political statement, but I'm not surprised. Still a big fan, though.

Here Here! I don't watch award shows as a matter of principal, but I did see his acceptance speech on the news this morning. Was he the ONLY one who had something anti-war to say?

I can only watch the highlights later tonight.

Lots of celebs had pro-peace things to say.

Here is Mr. Moore's speech:
Whoa. On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to — they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much.

He was booed.

From Adrien Brody's speech:

...it fills me with great joy, but I am also filled with a lot of sadness tonight because I am accepting an award at such a strange time. And you know my experiences of making this film (The Pianist) made me very aware of the sadness and the dehumanization of people at times of war. And the repercussions of war. And whatever you believe in, if it's God or Allah, may he watch over you and let's pray for a peaceful and swift resolution. Thank you. And I have a friend from Queens who's a soldier in Kuwait right now, Tommy Zarabinski, and I hope you and your boys make it back real soon. God bless you guys. I love you. Thank you very much.

He was cheered.

According to the story I read, it was only a smattering of boos. However, as I didn't see it, I don't really know.

In the press room following his speech, Michael Moore claims the booers were his friends and family.

I thought it was just my computer.

You don't think that someone has silenced MM, do you?

I bet Bush is trying to think of a justification for military action against him.

The Axis of Evil just keeps getting bigger.

Go right on there with your bad self, Mike.

(I mean honestly, what did people think he would do if he won, NOT say something?)

Check out Michael Moore's body of work, that's why he was there. He's always called attention to the plight of the common man, and in doing so, he's reminded us that one of our most basic rights as Americans, the right of Free Speech. Everyone is entitled to their own opnions, and to those who were offended by his words...Get Over It!

Michael Moore already has all the attention. Is anyone talking about anything or anyone else?
