I want to make a special dinner for a guy I've been seeing. We discovered we both like Guinness, so what kind of food goes w/ that? I'm open to anything that doesn't take forever to make w/ a million ingredients.

Come on you beer guzzlin' people, I know yer out there...

The one and only time I had Guinness was with a ham and potato stew and it was a good complement.

Something spicy? No no thats Corona.

Uh.. I have no Idea, cuz all I drink is Corona.

Honestly hamburgers with it is great but thats not special!

LoL, well, I guess I mean being with him would be special.. the dinner doesn't have to be, just complimentary to the beer.

I don't want to make burgers though..

The beer is heavy, I'm thinking maybe the food shouldn't be too?

I keep asking my bf, cuz he LOVES Guiness. He just keeps saying BURGERS, so sorry I can't be much help :)

Go to http://www.foodtv.com and put the word beer in the recipe search. Any food that has beer as an ingredient will be well suited to drinking Guinness with the meal. There are even two recipes specifically using Guinnes (put the word guinnes in the recipe search).

I like grilled chicken and wild rice with Guinness. Normally I drink ale tho. Ale goes with more than Guinness.

I would suggest a fondue of Road Tar. Road Tar and Guinness compliment each other wonderfully. Perhaps a juniper berry flan for desert with just a soupcon of hemlock.

Is everyone getting the gist of exactly how much I hate Guinness. I like stouts strong ales, "reds" and bitter. lager et al. I JUST FUCKING HATE GUINNESS.

Pizza.
Beer and Pizza. Perfect together.

Really hard to beat Beer and Pizza.

But not a Vegan pizza, gotta have lotsa meat, cheese and very salty.

must have chef moment-sorry

I make a pork tenderloin that I marinate in the brew-then braise slowly with a reduction of marinade, two cloves of garlic and a cup of dried cherries. I like to serve it with spinach sauteed quicly with butter and pecans and a sprinkle of nutmeg. Personally I would do a garlicky puree of parsnip, turnip and red bliss potatoes for the starch.
I have a recipe somewhere for a stout based pecan pie-if you want it let me know!
