Attention All Poets: It's the 1st Monthly Literotica Poetry Contest!

OK, it's the 1st Monthly Non-Official Literotica Contest. There will be a prize to the winner of the contest, though, a $25 gift certificate from Amazon.com, generously awarded by our resident Kitty Mama, Laurel.

The Rules

We can't have a contest without them. Those are the rules. For the 1st Monthly Literotica Poetry Contest, the rules are simple:

Write a poem with a winter theme.

We were discussing this earlier, and Angeline said something like, "well, this is beautiful, but you would not believe how effing cold it is. I have got to take a photo of the view from my bedroom window. That's where the desk is where I write. And that's a good challenge--the view from your window."

So there you have it. Write a poem with a winter theme and find a way of working the view from your window into it.

We'll do Eve's idea for the 2nd Monthly Literotica Contest. The 2nd Monthly Non-Official Literotica Contest. :D

The rest of the rules: there aren't any. Any length you want, any form you like. Just one entry per poet, though.

The Schedule

Send your poem via PM to The Poets any time until January 23rd at midnight GMT. The poem must be original and not be submitted anywhere else before the end of the month, including Literotica!

On January 24th, we will post the poems anonymously here in the Poetry Feedback & Discussion board and start a poll where you can vote on your favourite.

Voting will close a week later, on January 30th at midnight GMT, and the results will be announced the following day. If all goes according to plan, you could be placing your order at Amazon.com before the end of the month.

If you have any questions, post them here!

PS: Literotica.com claims no liability in the administration of this contest. They're just the sponsors. :D

It was the snow. The view of snow which was--and is still--falling from my window. And it can be a view from any window, even an imaginary one, but somehow working in winter.

Also, the mods--Lauren, Eve, and me--will not participate because we can all access The Poets id and will see who wrote what. Fair is fair. :D

Oh and make sure you give your poem a title, so we can list them in the poll by title.

WOW!

That is really nice. Let me be the first to thank Laurel for bringing attention to the poets of Literotica who write non-erotic verse!
With that acknowledged, I want to say that I hope an "erotic" poem about winter wins this first contest. This is Literotica after all!
Although nature and the seasons are themes I often write about, I don't normally write erotic poems. However, I will think seriously about the possibility of an erotic "winter themed" poem to show my support for our hosts! :rose:

Why should knowing who else wrote "what" prohibit you from competing? - Just not voting would be enough. (Can we trust you not to do that?) :p

(And no entrant should vote for their own entry, anyway!)

It's a mod-free contest. This is the price we pay. This is the sacrifice we make!!! (weeping) Now, go vote 5s on all our poems. :D

*staring off into space*

Alright. I am sure there is a way for me to work good scotch and a better cigar in there someway...

TA-DUMMMM

Paramount ~ excellent ~

Now if I could just figure out how to
write a GOOD poem in a week and a
half, <grin> about a winter scene through
a window, well thats easy I'll go sit at the
'MARINA' and have a cup of coffee, they got
big windows <chuckleboned>

thanks 'Poets' this is great~
let the comarodary begin ...

Since this will be an 'anonymous' poll, I'm not tellin' if I am in or not!!!

:p

PS. LOVE the idea!!!

Given my mood lately, this is liable to be a dark, sad, ugly poem. Perhaps it will help me to write it.

But I'm still not tellin' !!! :)

Nice!

Very cool. I mean, cold.

Yet if someone writes about coconut palms and getting a suntan, I'm just perverted enough to vote for that one.

(It's winter in Cozumel, too!)

Sugary fluffy poems are no fun anyway. :D

Oh. Well, that's great Lauren just dissed my entry before I even posted it.:p ;)

And to be serious just for one second, thanks to all three mods for their dedication to the board. It's impressive, especially since the pay aint so good.

Coldest temp wins?

It's 70 in eastern Carolina today. I hope you guys don't
decide by what is the deepest snow or lowest temp. I
feel at a disadvantage because of the warm weather.
Also I wish the mods would write something also. Have a
good day, got to go back to work, may wear shorts.

We may very well do that; we just don't want to be one of the mods to win the gift certificate. :)

Hynde! We're only talking 25 bucks!

If everything is on the up and up you guys should have a
chance. I mean it ain't a lot of money. Well, it is 5 and a
half New Castle drafts at Howard's Pub, so what. I'll bet
there are plenty of poets who would agree with me. May the
best poem win regardless of who wrote it. I'll stop now.

Best poem wins.

If you live in Austrailia, do you write a hot January poem? You could, and it could win.

And I've already had my favorite snow poem by me rejected by the New Yorker--if they'd actually sent it on their stationary it would be almost as good as a gift cert, but sadly it was just an email.

:D
