TV networks and their local affiliates have plenty of reason to be "frightened" that people are not watching their programming, be it news, NFL games, or other entertainment programming.

But the least frightening aspect of doing business is that their license is going to be declined for renewal because some crank like YOU or the President (sorry to be redundant) threatens to protest that renewal on the basis of failure to provide "equal time," serving the public "interest," etc.

There are RULES for all that shit. If the stations follow the rules their license gets renewed. Period. It's not a popularity contest with regard to the desires of the general public or their affinity for President Trump. THAT contest is reflected in ratings and a rise or fall in ad revenues. That's what's hitting the NFL where it hurts.

Trump has no more executive authority to pull a broadcast license than you or I do.

I wish I could find the humor in this. Perhaps if it were fiction then I could. His presidency is exposing that "dirty underbelly". And of course, as with all dirty underbellies, it's not like it just emerged suddenly - it's been in existence in some form or another for... well, ever.

The republicans and their bullshit (holding up judge appointments, and not just to scotus; neverending senseless obstructionism; draconian social policies; very questionable financial policies) were bad enough. Now we have to deal with him too.

It's a bit more than I can stomach sometimes quite honestly. The office of the president should have some decorum. I'd welcome the days of Bush and "putting food on your family" and "mission accomplished" in comparison to the absolute farce that we are now contending with. And that doesn't even account for the elements that take absolute joy in his and this insanity. I'm not one for drama usually when it comes to this type of stuff, but don't you recognize just how far the scale has been tipped?

Hogan, my insightful friend, I don't agree that we should ignore all the crazy shit he says. I think that every crazy tweet should be challenged. I refuse to normalize is laziness, insecurity or lack of concern for anyone but himself. He is the President of the United States of America but he throws gasoline on any fire he finds because he's an attention whore of an astonishing magnitude.
