Assange

I struggle to fully understand the Wikileaks phenomenon.

On one hand, all if not most of the published information posted clearly targeted only two superpowers while sparing the other ones. And Assange's latest interference in the Catalan-Spain conflict was clearly biased.
On the other hand, at least half of the information posted by Wikileaks helped the public from those two countries, by exposing corruption or totalitarian acts.

Funny thing is that if you start asking random people what was in the leaked emails that was so scandalous, they have trouble zeroing in on anything. It was mostly gossip. The news that most of the DNC staff was pulling for Hillary Clinton to prevail over non-Democrat Bernie Sanders wasn't a big deal at all, in the same way that it won't be surprising when the RNC leadership backs Donald Trump in 2020 over whichever challenger he faces.

I think a lot of people inferred scandal and newsworthiness from the mere fact that they were leaked. It's also apparent that a lot of low-information voters conflated the DNC emails with "Hillary's emails," which was a separate non-issue.

Exactly. That's me too.
I never bothered to research the exact content of the emails, I just assumed that given that they were posted by Wikileaks, they must have been Bad.

As a layperson, I'm far from being a Hillary fan. From what I read her other affairs weren't exactly up to scratch, and most of all, she lobied for militarism and foreign interventionism.

But now I understand that those emails, if any were just minor transgressions with no real consequences. And the timing of their release (when Hillary was doing well in polls) was very suspicious.

He went one step too far too, when he tried to interfere in the Catalan crisis.

Precisely. All for the sake of trying to keep Bernie voters in the party, most of whom clearly were only there for Bernie, who isn't in the Democratic Party, the DNC staff failed to just stick their chins out and say, of course our e-mail traffic showed that we, as the DNC staff, were working in favor of the actual Democrat who had worked for the party up and down the tickets for twenty years rather that the Independent trying to steal the party mechanism. Now, if the e-mails were about trying shut someone like Biden out if he were trying for the nomination . . . but they weren't.

Most likely Mueller will charge Organization 1 ( Wikileaks) with conspiracy to publish stolen information. How to craft the charge so it does not restrict freedom of the press is the tough part.

Sweden doesn't seem to be as cool these past few years.

Also, would he be tried in a real US court or a US kangaroo court?
