If a vegetarian is someone who eats vegetables, does that make a humanitarian a cannibal?

Why do blind people wear black eyeglasses, but deaf people don't wear black earmuffs?

Alert!! Alert!!!

Todd is really an American!!
Anybody who can dismiss the national sport of Canada, as I dismiss football (bunch of fat guys on rotating gatorade breaks) is surely not Canadian!!

Ok, ok just kidding....
Don't need a bunch of football freaks PMing me about my lack of taste in sports.

So, ask Todd anything huh?
Why are American bowling balls so big??
How come Americans don't know what curling is?? How come they don't own chesterfields ??

Is it a conspiracy?? I think so!!

Shhh, don't blow my cover.

Yup, anything.

Big bowling balls are for compensation of other inadequacies.

Cause they would have to comeout of the closet to know curling, plus its another rather lame excuse for a sport.

Sofa's are more comfortable.

Yes it is all a conspiracy, but don't tell them that, they won't believe it.

Ok, I'll bite as I'm curious about something and seeing as how you fancy yourself a religious scholar, perhaps you'll be able to help me out here.

The Gnostic Gospels found in 1947 in Egypt contained many thoughts and ideas from the early Christian period. Most of them proclaimed that the resurrection of Jesus was a spiritual one and not a physical one. These gospels were silenced in early times as they did a lot to get away from a centralized beauracratic church and even today's main christian churches refute them. Are these gospels true? Do their interpreations lack merit? If so, why?

Now, next question. As Barabbas was the person whom the Jews supposedly freed, and the name, Barabbas means, "son of God", is it likely that there was more than one Jesus?

I wrote a thread on this once. Basically the Gnostics were an early cult. Most of what they wrote did not pass the scripture based tests of scripture, thus disqualifing it from cannoncity.

Jesus was a common name it had several forms, Jesse, Joshua. but as for Jesus in line of Diety there was only one. Though people such as the gnostics and other early cults like to say that Jesus was actually a spiritual creature that came upon the man Jesus son of Mary., and left him as he was put to death on the cross and then landed on other "prophets", "priests", figure head leaders. There was even an offshoot branch of The Roman Catohlic church not connected any longer to the main branch Roman Catholics that followed the line that during Mass the Spirit being Jesus came upon the Priest.

If you're "somewhere in PA" Sweet Nick, and it's, like, 2AM or 3AM there right now, then what the HELL are you doing thinking such things, much less being coherent enough to post about them?

Or...
Oh.
Sorry.
Insomnia got you and you're looking for a way back to sleep, right?
Well, then.
Carry on.

Todd... get up! You *asked* us to ask you questions. The least you can do is stay up and alert and awake until every last one of us has had our questions answered. :p

I stayed up for an hour without reply so I went to bed. I am only human sometimes.

I don't know without looking it up, but you probably find it fascinating cause its probably something kinky.

Philadelphia to be exact cymbidia. I've ben thinking about such things because of a book I'm reading entitled, "The Hiram Key" about the history of Freemasonry, which also includes those topics I brought up.

Being coherent is easy. I'm an insomniac to begin with, and since I work an odd shift (2pm-11pm) being a waiter at the moment, its easier for me to stay up a bit later and wake up late than try to get up early and be sluggish during my shift.

Todd, wasn't Christianity just a cult of Judaism in its beginning? And who were these Scripture scholars in the mid 4th century? Are they the same ones who added books to the Old Testament?

Do you mean there was only one Jesus the Christ? Christ coming from Christos meaning messiah? Speaking of which, the greek meaning for messiah, the one we hold today, is completely different from the original meaning of "messiah" found in the Old Testament. That meaning deals with a great leader who will lead the Jews both militarily and in the government. Jesus never seems to have done this.

My next question. What do you know of Mithra?

Why the mistrust of science? Do you see science as a natural enemy of Christianity?

Firstly I want to thank you for your approach. And I mean that, it is a wonderful break from the normal.

I dn't know if you would call them scholars by todays standards of scholardom but they were men who continued following teaching sof Jesus from the disciples and apostles downward. The Catholics were the ones to first start adding to the 39 canonical books of the Old Teststament, but other groups liked the idea. the reason why to add I am not sure, my theory, was to help make thier, whomever did the adding, position look more "biblical correct".

the differences in Messiah deffinitions is probably the biggest reasons why the Jews rejected Jesus. They were looking for a military/political Messiah not a spiritual Messiah. they looked at the words and not the context of the Messiah prophecies.

Mirtha, No idea, I recall the word, but can't think of anything on it at the moment, do you want me to investigate for discussion?

Actually I don't mistrust science but that is what most think the christians postion is.

Science and the bible are rather complimentary. Though don't tell the Athiest that, they will have a coniption fit. In the bible there is acurate, astrology, astronomy, geology, microbiology and other ologies that where shown a few thousand years before present day science has validated them, but of course, the Athiest will say its all lucky guesses.

My only mistrust of science is those who won't quote all the facts just the theories that disprove the bible. You know the way the democrats spin on the republicans, and the way the republicans spin on the democrats.

Do you speak French as a second language, or did you do that special for the audio? (to be posted in about 20 minutes or so, btw)

As a Fundamentalist Christian, what do you get from hanging out at an adult erotic site? Besides a woodie, I mean.

Yes French is a second language being in New Brunswick Canada its the only forced bilingual province, if you wanna work you have to speak french, I am not great at it but good enough to work and use it. And I was wondering what happened to it ;)

No, no you got it all wrong, I anm a fundaMENTAL christian. I get educated quite much on human interaction and understanding. Plus eroticism and Chrisianity are not as far apart as one might think. Did you read the thread I posted, "Biblical Eroticism"?

What do you know about that Paul guy and his views on chastity in Christianity? Does it parallel the bible's views on sex? Other than it being in the bible.

That Apostle Paul guy?

Well his problem was he couldn't get any so he thought it best that nobody got any, but then God jabbed him in the side with a thron bush and Paul realized that some people were/are better suited to singleness and chastity, and served better in the ministry if they were, but for those that were not with a gifting in htat area, he told to get marries nad get a room and get it on so it didn't distract them in the ministry. Pretty much it keeps with he theme of chastity, sex and marriage in the bible.

I did, but you have to admit that your stance on sexuality and erotica is not shared by all fundamentalists.

Good answer, btw.

What do you like on a pizza?

Well most of the fundamentals leave out the fun and focus on the lists. Although the bible does promote a male/female monogomous lifestyle, there is nothing stopping that realtionship to fully enjoying itself in various sexual expression with each other. and if done so, the risk of disease is lessened, but stepping away from preadching sorry about that. Having said all that most fundamentalists prefer to do the list thing for thier walk instead of enjoying the guidelines. Within the guidelines there is a ton of room to have fun, but the core like to focus on the guidlines and not the vast playground inbetween. Make sense, prolly not, but when do I ever.

Pizza? Sauce, cheese, peperoni, onions, slami, hamburgers, sausgae, green peppres. and lots more cheese and onions.

What year was the flood and how could all the human races come from Noah, his three sons and their wives?

But Todd, if the Jews were the ones having written the Old Testament, don't you think they of all people would know what they meant by messiah?

Mithra, in case you've not looked it up, was a diety from another popular cult in Rome. Supposedly, Mithra was himself born of a virgin on December 25th, only in the year 600BC. Mithra was a Syrian offshoot of Zorastrianism, which I'm sure you know contained many of the sacraments that are associated with Christianity. Those include, baptism, a sacramental meal, belief in immortality, a savior god who died and was ressurected, a last judgement, and heaven and hell. Any thoughts?

Do you personally believe in hell?
Why or why not???

this is a two parted Todd

1) Why don't fish fly?

2) Why don't birds (excluding penguins) swim?
