I'll just say what everyone knows and wants to say--this has nothing to do with harvey weinstein or the culture of powerful male abuse that's pervasive. And that doesn't mean Asia Argento's actions are excusable either.

I just wish people thought, talked and acted with keeping in mind all the nuances to these issues than getting tribal and finding their broad corners.

Ages of consent exist for a reason; if you violate them (and know you're violating them), there's no good excuse. Also, there's the whole weirdness factor of her seducing someone she had known since he was 7 after he had played her son in a movie.

But while I hate to question anyone who says they were traumatized by unwanted (or illegal) sex, the timing here sure makes it look like the potential for hush money prompted him to "remember" this trauma.

Well OK you can just decide how much they want it (and she decided he did) and how many times they did it regardless of the laws prohibiting it. She was twenty years older than him and said he did not want to do it and felt pressured by the lead in a movie he was in. Does that seem like an equal power place to freely decide.

Wasn't that the whole point of much of the "me too" thing? Equality of power in a relationship. A cause Asia Argento was publically behind. Or since just plain old knock down rape disqualify any comparisons.

The thing that makes this story creepy is that the kid had worked as her son few years ago, and then she was putting out social media messages about her son coming to visit him referring to him before this happened.
Bit of a weird mind, to say the least.
