I didn't hear about the recent hack but a few years ago Ashley Madison was hacked and someone sent our newsroom a list of everyone in our town who had signed up. There were some surprises, including a member of the city council and the husband of a very hot attorney.
I'd say you sign up for AM at your own risk.

That's why I used a gift card to pay for the membership... no record of any personal account. Changed my DOB and personal info so it's close but not close enough to be ID'd by any of my friends...
Works for me... not for everyone though...
