Diving into the cool clear lake, Erin savored the water flowing about her heated body. Popping back to the surface she brushed the wet strands of her red-blonde hair back and floated on her back, her eyes closed to the hot sun.
Her hands paddling slowly, keeping her afloat and still on the surface of the water, Erin mentally reviewed the events of the last few days.
She had come home early on Friday from work to find her boyfriend Josh waving goodby to a slim athletic looking girl she had never met before. With a questioning look in her eye, Erin waited for Josh to say who the girl was. With alot of mumbling and shuffling, Josh finally admitted that the girl was his cousin who'd come over for a coffee. Erin had had her doubts the moment she saw the girl, but that was a ridiculous cover-up. Without a word Erin walked past Josh, leaving a trail of clothes behind her, stripping naked on her way to the shower. When he didn't follow, as he usually did, it pretty much confirmed it for her. Josh was having an affair. Usually Josh was eager for sex, and was a giving, caring partner, but over the last months they had been having sex less and less often. And now she knew why.
Hurrying through her shower she knew that their relationship was over. Drying and dressing, Erin followed the aroma of coffee into the kitchen. Taking a cup and seating herself at the kitchen counter all she had to do was raise an eyebrow and it all poured out, the whole sordid story. He'd met her at a campus bar and they'd got to talking, and one thing led to another and it seemed he'd forgotten all about Erin for that night. In the light of the next day and not seen through the bottom of a beer glass the two belatedly had reconized each other - she really was his cousin. That didn't seem to stop them, Josh said there was a chemistry between himself and his cousin that wasn't there between Erin and him. He couldn't break up with Erin and go out with his cousin - It would ruin his whole family. Erin didn't stay to listen to any more, she packed up a few things and left for the cabin she'd inherited from her grandfather, telling Josh he had to be out of her home by the time she returned.
So it was that Erin was floating about in a high mountain lake, in the height of summer alone and deprived of sexual excitement.
Erins Grandfather had allowed a hiking trail to be put through past his lake and on towards the distant peaks for public use, and with a start, Erin realized she could hear the voices of hikers, quite close by. Deciding she wasn't going to leave just because hikers had come to share her lake, she relaxed again, floating on her back.
Unnoticed from her earlier dive into the water, her strapless bikini top had flipped down, leaving her breasts bare and glistening with jewel-like beads of water.
