As the WIfe says, Hospitals are full of Village Idiots.

OK here is the Story, I will try to keep it short..

Decemebr 24th, at Midnight, I took the Wife to the Hospital with severe abdominal pains. (she has been Diagnosed with Endometriosis and had surgery for it 3 years ago) Well the ER doctor took a blood test and a pregnancy test, tho she was coming to the end of her period at the time, and the tests came out Neg and NO abnormalites in the blood.. so he prescribed a pain killer that she is Allergic to and that she had been Wearrning a lable on her wrist saying so.. So we got a new presciption from him and since it was the same as what she was taking and still had some we decided not to fill it..

On December 25th about Midnight, the pain got worse so I took her into the ER again where they did the same tests they did the night before, with the same results and more prescripts, but this time they gave us a OBGYN to go see on the 27th.

the next day, 27th of December, THe wife set up an appointment to see the OBGYN.. After an hour of being examend, we were sent to the Surgion to check for Appendisitis. He ordered a Cat scan so that he could see if it may be inflamed or if there were any other medical problems like maybe a Cist. We also asked him if the Endometriosis would show up and he said that it wouldn't. well the Cat scan didn't show any abnormalities.

So we tried to set up another appointment with the OBGYN so that measures could be taken to help with the pain to wich the OBGYN replied that, the WIFE couldn't have Endometriosis cause it didn't show up on the Cat scan (The complete opposite of what the Surgion had said) and was refused services cause of that, and finally set up an appointment for the 9th of Jan..

The 28th I Took the wife back to the ER, after making many phone calls to other Hopitals, For the pain. They ended up doing the same tests again, but this tiem we had a Female Doctor who finaly agread that it was most likely that the pain was caused by the Endometriosis, cause of the symptoms that were discribed to her and the area of the pain.. We had also asked her about the cat scan, and she and 2 other ER doctors agread that it would not show up on a Cat Scan and she just said to use the prescripts untill we can get into see the OBGYN on the 29th.. and also dismissed the wife from work till she sees the OBGYN..

SO the wife is basically out of work untill she either feels better or after the next Office visit on the 9th. and to make the Holiday season even better for us... I lost my job on the 27th.. but didn't tell the wife till the 29th cause of everything that has been going on.. SO happy Holidays to me and mine again this year.. But hey life goes on and I am Holding her as she cries herslef to sleep every night cause of the pain that she is in and the meds are not helping the pain..

What she is taking is 500mg of Darviset and 100mg of Cataflam, for the pain. and if any one would like to know what Endometriosis is.. please goto this site at the Endometriosis Research Center. They do a better Job of explaining it then I can and I did prommise that I would try to make it short.. So here it is..

I have to ask. Do you live in the middle of duhville? I mean, what the heck kind of medical people are they? There is no way she has to put up with the pain till then. Call back, over and over if you must and get something better, or till they admit her.
In the meantime. Please keep holding her, make sure she eats, you also. Plenty of fluids.
Sorry about the job also. Geesh. Lucky the New Year is around the corner.

Thank You Merelan, we have been doing that and yes this Hospital has a history of misdiagnosis, and yes we are looking into other alternatives. We have found clinic just for Endometriosis and will be saving up money to get to one soon.. and we are also thinking about getting a lawer as soon as we can and sue the hospital and the OBGYN dept. for their ignorance. Esp. if it turns out to life threatining wich it can be.. that is if it has grown into her Intestines, wich is very possible..

P.S. Yes I do wonder if this is duhville, but then again the wife needs to learn why I didn't want, and still don't wnat to be in this hell hole of a town. and she seems to be learning it the hard way and I don't like it either. and she made me redo a promise that I made to her.. Instead of 2 years in this hell hole to... untill she is finished with school.. and if things keep going like they are it may be sooner then that..

Think of the loss of job in this way. Maybe it is someone's way of telling you to clear out of there.
I love small towns and the life we live here. But then again, I am extremely lucky to live close enough to a major city loaded with hospitals and all sorts of things.
Good luck, whatever happens.

Unfortunatly, I can't offer any advice on the pain but I will offer my best thoughts and a lot of prayers.

HUGS to both you and your wife, I too suffer from endometriosis. The web site your wife had in a previous thread was excellent. Depending on your wifes age, and if you plan on having children...If you are a young couple and plan on having children, the odds are very tough to get pregnant, but if she does, and I don't know why, but the pregnancy will put the endometriosis in a remission state. I, myself, have had 7 laproscopic surgeries for the removal of the endometriosis. When your wife sees the gynocologist ask them about ovarian cysts and fibroid tumors in the uterus, both will increase the abdominal pain. I am not trying to worry either of you more, just giving you possible ideas of other female problems which will intensify the pain. Good luck to both of you!

A brief comment about pain and the hospital, I read just the other day that the accrediting commission for most hospitals is apparently beginning to require hospitals to treat patients for pain, actually asking them to rate their pain on a scale of 0 to 10 and administering appropriate medications to ease that. I was shocked at first when I read the article, then thought back to my own ER visit with a kidney stone and sitting/lying in the waiting area doubled over in pain waiting for anyone to do anything for me.

As for you and your wife specifically, I will also have both of you in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Hopefully this will be one of those situations that in some way makes you stronger, though it is difficult to understand how as you endure it.

I don't know much about endometriosis except it can eventually lead to a hysterectomy. (sp) Just wanted to wish both of you the best of luck.

YES! When I went to the ER on Christmas morning for the strep throat, I was put in a room with a poster about pain. It said all patients had the right to appropriate treatment for pain and it had a scale from 0 to 10 complete with smilie faces to frowns, and words, to describe the different pain levels. 10 was unbearable pain. I had decided on 5 or 6 for my pain level before the nurse said "what is your pain level at right now, about a 5 or 6?" Pretty good guess, I'd say she's seen strep throat before! Anyway, the poster made it seem like appropriate pain treatment was a requirement for them. I agree with the others- don't wait until Jan 9- insist on getting help now!
