Lawsuit claims Musk failed to make promised payments over 2024 petition signatures

Musk's America PAC offered to pay $100 for registered voters to sign the petition and $100 for people who referred a registered voter who signed the petition.

“America PAC is committed to paying for every legitimate petition signature, which is evidenced by the fact that we have paid tens of millions of dollars to canvassers for their hard work in support of our mission," America PAC spokesperson Andrew Romeo said in an email. "While we don’t yet know who this ‘John Doe’ plaintiff is and can’t speak to their specific circumstances, we can say that we are also committed to rooting out fraud and have the right to withhold payments to fraudsters.”

Wonderful the way this is working out. Musk and his Wunderkind get pointed at a target and dig out exactly where the monies going. Musk reports to Trump, they take the results public, and decide what to do about the situation. Any hammer lowering that takes place, Trump does it. Don't forget kiddies, Trump had the phrase "You're Fired" trademarked long before Elon came along.

So what is all the hand wringing and gnashing of teeth about? Perhaps it comes down to the fact that the public is being shown exactly what the government's been doing with the taxpayers dollar and the people that have been spending said dollars are terrified. And as events are unfolding it seems they have good cause to be terrified.
Trump and DOGE Defund Program That Boosted American Manufacturing for Decades

President Donald Trump says taxing imports will strengthen domestic manufacturing. Hours before announcing new tariffs, his administration cut support for centers that help US firms do just that.

Liberal candidate Susan Crawford won handily over conservative Brad Schimel in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race despite the efforts of Musk and President Donald Trump

And today, we’re finally ending the NAFTA nightmare and signing into law the brand-new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. (Applause.) Very special. Very, very special.

The USMCA is the largest, fairest, most balanced, and modern trade agreement ever achieved. There’s never been anything like it. Other countries are now looking at it, but there can’t be a border like that because, believe it or not, that is by far the biggest border anywhere in the world, in terms of economy, in terms of people. There’s nothing even close.
trump slammed NAFTA in his glorious tariff talk yesterday, but somehow failed to mention his bestest USMCA deal ever.

Interestingly, trump’s new tariffs on foreign cars doesn’t include USMCA autos. The US Canada car industry is pretty complex with parts crossing the border multiple times on the way to the finished product. Makes me wonder if the tariffs are a shell game where only shampoo and chewing gum gets the high tariffs and trump can claim how tough he’s being. Eh, wishful thinking

Actually autos are impacted, he applied a 25% tariff back in early March, but delayed implementation of them until yesterday.

No surprise there. There is a 130 day limit on the form of service Musk is performing, so Musk will go. Fear not, DOGE will soldier on.
I'm sure it will, and you'll continue to cheer it on, until the government collapses under the weight of it's responsibilities to it's citizens. At that point Trump will declare Martial law,and name himself dictator for life. Claiming he will now fix the government he broke. Enjoy!!

various reports point out that auto part manufacturing has about a 6-7% margin, so 25% effectively kills the NA supply chains.

Stellantis is halting production today in Windsor for 2 weeks to assess.

Ford makes as its f150 and mustang V8’s in Windsor.

As Rebel has said before, Ford has lots of inventory ( the Bronco Sport has turtled so badly they cut the Retail by 10g in January)… so Ford is doing an Employee Pricing Sale to get rid of slow moving product and keep cash flowing short term.

Honda and Toyota Canada will have about 1 million units per year to ship elsewhere if the tariffs continue… for now theyre saying theyre staying in canada…my guess is more canadians will buy made in canada hondas and toyotas.

You fucking dumbass.

Nearly 40% of contracts canceled by Musk’s DOGE are expected to produce no savings

Nearly 40% of the federal contracts that President Donald Trump’s administration claims to have canceled as part of its signature cost-cutting program aren’t expected to save the government any money, the administration’s own data shows.

The Department of Government Efficiency, run by Trump adviser Elon Musk, published an updated list Monday of nearly 2,300 contracts that agencies terminated in recent weeks across the federal government. Data published on DOGE’s “Wall of Receipts” shows that more than one-third of the contract cancellations, 794 in all, are expected to yield no savings.

That’s usually because the total value of the contracts has already been fully obligated, which means the government has a legal requirement to spend the funds for the goods or services it purchased and in many cases has already done so.

“It’s like confiscating used ammunition after it’s been shot when there’s nothing left in it. It doesn’t accomplish any policy objective,” said Charles Tiefer, a retired University of Baltimore law professor and expert on government contracting law. “Their terminating so many contracts pointlessly obviously doesn’t accomplish anything for saving money.”

Really? Cancelling open contracts has no effect?
Depends by what you mean as "open". In my days in infrastructure supply, most of our government contracts had "completed by dates". At that point the contract was closed, and if you had not completed "delivery" you paid "liquidated damages" for every day late. If you completed your supply prior to the closing date, you were paid out 90%, with the 10% paid out 30 days later.

Cancelling of the contracts would not change either outcome.

Now if you are referring to a contract that doesn't sunset, but instead renews automatically, then yes there would be a savings the following year.

If you cancel a contract before it's awarded, then there would also be savings. But there are no savings to be had on cancelling an executed contract in the manner doge used. I suspect some might even get partially paid out for no delivery given my experience, if the government was nefarious about how they cancelled it. As it seems doge has done....
