...so goes the nation.

Now that the citizens of the USA own something like 30% of GM and the stock is presently running at a 25 Billion dollar loss relative to the amount used to purchase that stock...

Shouldn't every Americans next vehicle be a General Motors product?

Not to quibble too much, but while teh total paper loss is 25 billion, teh amount attributable to just GM is 16 billion.

teh Federal government needs to sell at $53 per share to recoup its investment, and GM stock is trading at 20 dollars and change. We still have a long way to go.

I blame Bush. ;)

Yeah, me too. But I care less about the stock value than I do about the fact that rescuing GM put our neighbors back to work. I bought a GM last year.

You gotta be careful, though - my two top color choices were both assembled in Japan. I went with #3, assembled in Ohio.

Sorry, can't afford it, I took a big hit in the market on my GM stock.

I realize the Internet hasn't arrived yet in Quebecistan...

...but doesn't anyone up there offer an upgrade in telegraph service?

I posted in the Doom & Gloom thread the day I bought GM around 19.20 and now it's 21.76 and rising. When did you buy in, waffle?

The same day Obamaloney did. He wasted a shit load of my money to.

Sure. In fact you took teh very same hit that I did. Unless of course you are not an American Taxpayer.

You're not a taxpayer. You said earlier today you're "too old" to work (whatever the hell that means).

Were you lying then or are you lying now?

You're a shut-in who plays video games until dark, with random visits to Lit to lecture us on the way things ought to be...

None of the corporate leeches will get my business.
I buy from non corporate welfare companies.

You know the GM/Chrysler bailouts were smart because Paul Ryan voted for them. By his own considerable economic prowess that conservatives swear by, Ryan said that it was worth it.

I didn't take a hit on GM as a taxpayer because I benefit from an country with a large auto industry. And being an Ohioan where something like 12% of us work in the auto industry or in an associated industry, I benefited from my state not going into the economic shitter.

Again Rob puts words in my mouth that I never, ever spoke. He is so good at it, he must think others will believe...oh wait all of those who kiss his ass probably do.

No problem, it will when all those pensions come due.

We're conversing with another card-carryin' victim here. Even when he's not a victim, well he still reserves the right to whip out his V-Card.

Those pensions have been due and getting paid out since before World War 2. What date will GM not be able to pay them?

You mean the union pensions right
The non union pensions that GM had, them people was told go pound sand.

Ain't that something. Non-Union employee, fuck you, you don't count, you didn't build it, so no pension for you.

That's it, keep putting those words in my mouth. You don't know me or anything about me. For all you know I'm 14 year old girl who gets her kicks telling old farts that they are stupid.

Wow, just think if that was true, Merc has been bantering with a 14 year old girl and losing.

The old GM is still around hasn't gone away. They have shit loads of lawsuits over the pension fucking long with debt holders that was told pound sand.

And if GM wasn't bailed out everyone would have lost much more.

Union employees kept their full pensions because GM had legal obligations to the union. But the unions made concessions as well, didn't they?

Im a proud member of the uaw, but get no pension. I've owned a ford, jeep, and two chevys. So far the old jeep is my favorite, closely followed by my first Chevy. I'm glad Chrysler and gm got saved. If not Michigan would be more of a shithole then it is.
