How many people know the name of the artist who made their avatar or the picture you made out of their work for your avatar? People really ought to be more artistically inclined, to think in pictures, speak as if in dreams, to live outloud.

Francoise Nielly: oil on canvas, painted with a palette knife (so much fun). One should never be afraid to use too much paint. I suffer the people that are stingy with paint. Use color like it was blood. Chaos has more meaning than delicate still lifes. In order to use art (but please insert your own life's work here), you must have a passion for it. You must be willing to live by it. Be the voyeur of utter destruction (as beauty).

We do..Luis Royo. Actually chose it as we both love his work and decided to use one of his for our AV and set about choosing the one which expressed our emotions.:)

Current's from the manga Tenjou Tenge.
I forget the name of the origional artist (Japanese names slip my mind easily) but I have bought some of the orgional Manga so have supported my choosen artist.

Some of my other stuff- pure me, edited from a sketch I made.

Still, I do agree with you Myst. Proper Artist Credit would be a nice thing to see sometimes.

BTW- luv your current AV.

Current one is from the movie Monday (2002) created by Daniel Norlund and Jan Noorlander.

Ah, this makes me happy! I love seeing artists recognized. My former avatar was made by Dave Daniels, whose website was recently taken down: www.giveintosin.com. I was upset to see his stuff go, because it was quite original and very fitting. I saved a few of his pieces on my hard drive. His model was usually Black Widow. She's a gothic model who has her own website (though it's a paysite), as well. I wish I had the nerve to take my own shots for avatars, but alas, I'm unwilling to reveal much of my identity lately. There are still some who remember me, and a few trusted people I've shared with recently. I suppose having a webcam would help, too! At least I could take anonymous shots once in a while.

My avatar is... well my avatar. The Greek character Xi. Suspended in three D space amidst a swirl of fellow greek characters. The piece was made by my friend Kevin Loney, using his skills in 3D rendering to compose that image. I was originally going to use the image for a cd cover... still thinking of using it for a cd cover.

My current one is half of a vector image created by a user on Neowin. He used it as his signature line, and I borrowed the half with the woman. I dont think I have the original anymore, but to the right of the woman was all kinds of technical stuff about his computer...

I just liked the woman...

if I can find his username again, I can offer proper credit :)

photoshop and a clip from the movie Fight Club.

Chuck Palahniuk is somewhat of an artist, in literature anyway.

I use my own art. I don't like to pick other peoples feelings, thoughts and visions to represent me.

Former AV - pic from an ancient Greek artist, from one of a series of murals on a wall, unknown who actually did it.

Current AV - from one of the sites on MissT's thread.

Future AVs may or may not be our own originals.
