Two part question

a. If you had the choice to lose your sight, no more art, or hearing, no more music, which one would you choose:

b. You could only look at one piece of art and one CD of music.

All depends.... If you have Pink Floyd's pulse... are you allowed to look at the cover?

The example you have given I would say blind rather than deaf... but in the overall stakes I'd say deaf rather than blind

Can I lose the sense of smell rather than the two choices above? If so I would opt to lose smell rather than be blind or deaf.

Me too but then that would be so easy to choose!

I would rather go blind cause sight with no sound is am empty world. Blindness you can use your imagination to create the images, deafness nothing you can do will replace the sounds of life.

tough choices

i would take the music over the art.

if i could only listen to 1 CD...i would pick Machine Head by Deep Purple.
i love that stuff!!

Todd buddy, What did Mozart have going on in his head??

I don't blame you for your choice, but I would find it harder to adapt to loosing my sight than to going deaf, I guess...

Nope. Just kill me. :)

Rather than saying Mozart I would bring up Beethoven, the man was deaf when he wrote what I think are some of his greatest pieces. Anyway back to the question at hand.... I couldnt imagine being either deaf or blind, but on pure speculation alone I would rather be deaf than blind.

Deaf

I can create my own music and relive the sounds that I have heard to go with the sights that I am seeing,,,

I can not create art nor recreate it in my head,,, art tends to be much more subtle and varied than music,,,

And what sound is a smile? not a laugh, giggle or chuckle,,, just a plain old fashioned smile. I'd much rather be able to see that than forever missing it

OMG!!!

Neither, neither, neither!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd rather lose taste AND smell than either sight or hearing!

I guess that if I had to choose one to lose, it would be hearing, because I've been so involved with art all of my life. I would really miss the music, though!

I'm not sure what one thing I would listen to, although it'd probably be NIN or Pearl Jam.

The only piece of art? How about the human form?

would rather be deaf

I'm a visual person, and love love love love looking at art

I'm getting old enough that both are beginning to happen and to compound it all, I am too vain to wear glasses, so I continually bump into inanimate objects saying, "Excuse me, miss..."

would rather be blind, you at least have your sense of touch to explore things

As some one who's had to wear glasse's since the age of six I've thought about this from time to time and I'd say I'd rather be deaf than blind, although I love music and it moves me in a way few other thing's can, I'd rather be deaf purely for practical day to day reasons.

The world is much more deaf friendly than it is blind friendly, the deaf can get about more easily than the blind and function better on the whole than blind people can in this vision centric world.
