The Dallas Stars were this close to being able to clinch 1st overall in the western conference tonight!! The Red Wings were down and out and beaten by the Blue Jackets after they scored on an empty net to get what should have been a 6th goal to lead (and win) the game 6-4.

The friggen refs called the goal off though saying the puck hit Brendan Shanahan in the face. WHAT?! Who cares!! It's not like Shanahan is good looking or anything! Who cares if it goes off his grill? Tell him to get a visor on and suck it up.

But we gotta give those darlings from Detroit every chance to win a game or at the very least tie it.

Which they did.

I don't know who to be more pissed off at.. the Jackets for blowing a 5-3 lead with 4 minutes left to go, or the ref for giving the Wings a tie.

Now I gotta hope the Blackhawks can beat the Red Wings.. Shit.. Looks like my Stars will be in 2nd.

It's amazing really.. Dallas has been 1st in the west ALL season. Not once did they fall out of first...

And on the second to last day of the season - baring a miracle win or tie by the Blackhawks over the Wings - the Red Wings will clinch 1st place in the west without ever having spent a full day before holding onto the spot this season.

Fucking amazing..

I hate the Red Wings. Hate isn't too strong a word here people.. I HATE the Red Wings.

Ok.. here is the situation now as it stands:

The Oilers lost tonight... They are now for sure in 8th spot and will play the team in 1st.

I don't want them to play the Stars. I think that fact has already been well documented.

So now I'm thinking maybe being 2nd place in the west isn't so bad. Dallas will avoid Edmonton, get to bitch slap the Minnesota Wild and the fans who abandoned the North Stars, and I'll get to cheer on Edmonton (who is my 2nd favorite team anyway) against Detroit. And besides, like I said last night, I - along with every hockey fan - knows that Dallas has owned the western conference all season long.

As I pointed out a Detroit win and they are 1st. Dallas can win tommorow night, but if the Wings win then it won't matter.

So.. believe it or not I am now hoping for a Red Wings win over Chicago tommorow.

I feel... strange...

But you know what, out of spite and because they all are bastards (except Hull and Yzerman remember..) I am willing to bet Detroit thorws the game and loses on purpose to avoid Edmonton and finish 2nd. Oh yeah.. they would do that I'm sure..
