I say, "not all, but most are - yes."

Q: If it's "natural" is it okay? Is it good? Is it right? Is it correct? Or is it simply "understandable?"

Please - let's not get caught up in the semantics of the words here. Don't even go there.

We're talking "innate arrogance" in the "thinking human." If your human and if you think - then it is very likely that - you think highly of yourself - this the arrogance. Arrogance can and most often is blinding.

And yes of course, we are talking "generally" here, there are exceptions - many who partake on this board are such exceptions.

I mean think of it - the brightest "thinking humans" on this planet have no "upward reference to intellect." Correct me if I'm wrong - we haven't made contact with any other species out there yet - have we? Am I missing something? Sure humans can look down, look back - they can easily tell "who they are smarter than." But (generally again) they can't look beyond their own intelligence (even though they do have that capability within their own creative mind to do so) - all because of their own arrogance.

Now here's where this is all going.......

It's my opinion that this "one single factor" is the grand limiting factor - to peace - a mutual, peaceful existence on our planet here. World/Global peace is actually scuttled by the proliferation of intellectually driven arrogance. Generally found in most humans.

And here's the real kick in the ass - "if you" - yes you - just may disagree with that thought - you may very well be contributing the "human pile of arrogance" - and thusly contributing to a less than peaceful global existence for us all.

So......

To be brilliant is also - to not be.

Thank you very much. Uber Oz has spoken.

My Grandfather expressed it as "The really smart ones realize how little they know"

Yeats expressed it, if I recall correctly (and I may not):

Of all hatreds that are accursed;
An intellectual hatred is the worst.

It was in A Letter to My Daughter, I believe.
