The comments I read in the stories are often so negative that I am considering finding another site. I can see there is pride on this site in the literary quality of the writing. That is a great thing and there is a support system through editors, etc, to assist and develop writers, which is fantastic.

Having said that, the comments are often very unkind and contain a level of arrogance that is sad, really. Is this not an erotica sight, first and foremost? Perhaps just relax a little and focus on enjoying our shared adventurous sexual spirits? Celebrate those that give us something to read because they are willing to step out and put into words a piece of their sexuality? At whatever level they are at?

If you are an accomplished writer consider sharing your thoughts in a constructive, but kind, way. Are we not here to support each other? If you aren't an accomplished writer yourself, than maybe just work on the plank in your own eye.

Please forgive the admonishing tone, I think I waited long enough to say something that I am completely fed up.

Almost all the snarky comments come from LIT writers, throwing turds at other writers.

Well 'scuuuuse me, I are an engineer. I got it right once in my post, ha!

Besides, you just made my point :).

Are we assuming the op is a 'righter'?
Perhaps the arrogance is directed at her spelling?
This 'sight' has no tolerance for bad spelling after all.

Your best bet is to go post in the AH this forum is more a current events type board.

As for the nasty remarks, most come from "any mouse" and they do it because its the net and they can say nasty things and get away with it.

The trolls of today were the kids in high school getting swirlies.

Boo hoo, so sad for you.

Piss off.

I have and the site/sight issue was actually one of the ones that spurred me to do it. Its like you're working against an unseen editor.

It annoyed the crap outta me, too.

Back to the op.... if you are a writer, and you can't take criticism, perhaps you need to take a hard look at why you are being criticised and correct your style?
Nobody likes bad spelling, poor grammar, or storylines that don't flow.

Auto correct is a blessing as well as a curse.
Oh how nice it would be to blame it on autocorrect :)...nope, just me typing quickly and writing it as it sounded. And then not catching it when I read back through lol. I have quite a high IQ but words aren't my thang.

The thing that I have found here is there are two types of negative remarks to the writers and the definition of negative varies on how thick their skin is and their reason for writing here.

First off, there are the trolls who leave remarks like "You fucking suck, just kill yourself and never write again! Stuff that is just over the top and meant to annoy the writer.

Some writers remove those, some keep them. To me, if you remove them, you proved they got to you and they will come back. Personally I laugh at them and never remove them, I have some real winners there and I let them stay.

But the other "negative" comment gos like this: "Good story, but...."

For many writers here, once they see "but" it becomes a negative remark. These writers only want to see "man, you're so fucking awesome. I came five times!"

If they are offered good constructive critique they are offended the poster did not bow to their awesomeness and remove the remark and say it was negative.

For me, the difference is the people who can't handle good honest feedback have no interest in improving and it shows and they will never do better than writing on a free site.

the ones who came here looking to improve will take it and learn from it. My first story here got a few nasty remarks such as "Do you know what a comma is?"

Know what? They were right. My grammar was horrific. I still have some issues here and there (and pay someone to edit my for sale stuff) but I have greatly improved because I took the time to consider what people were trying to point out to me.

Arrogance is taking a helpful correction and turning it onto its head.

Given this, perhaps the problem is with you and not the feedback.

Please stop making sense.
We all know that if you don't have a major orgasm from reading a story, then the story was crap!
;)

Wow a little bitter, are we? Someone rain on your parade a few times? All of us can relate to that. Maybe you should find another way to deal with your past instead of nasty remarks to others. That was kind of my point.

If unkind comments are a problem, this is not the site for you. There is some degree of support, but a site which allows anonymous comments will always have those whose great thrill is to upset someone else.

You may be posting in the wrong category. Forget about Loving wives. It's not worth the effort.

Another tip: The best comments come by pm or email. Forget about onboard comments.

Well then, and I was sticking up for you on your spelling and making a well intentioned suggestion that you take a thread about writing over to the forum that is about....Writing!

And I'm not bitter at all. I laugh my ass off at nasty remarks.

Unlike you who wanted to whine about it on a thread.

My point is the people who run up and down the story boards lashing out with nastiness are taking advantage of the safety of the net and using it to make themselves feel better about whatever the hell they perceive as their reason to be angry.

Most cyber bullies are small little people who themselves were bullied in R/L and still live with mom or are pussy whipped or whatever....

lovecraft68, my apologies! My comment was meant for the lovely Squibbs, Hammer of Thinks He's a God, who's response was, "Boo hoo, so sad for you.Piss off."

Alas, my "virgin" status is accurate and I must have clicked something wrong when I thought I was replying to his post.

Why, your grammar even matches!

Thanks,

And back to auto correct part of why I disabled it was because when I write, my characters do not speak in perfect English, but use a lot of slang or imperfect speech like

"Hey, you wanna play X-box"

"Nah, I gotta get going"

Auto correct will annoy the shit out of you with that as it is spell check had it lit up like a Christmas tree until I found out I could add those words to the dictionary.

Aw crap, I did it again!

Um,....like hey, I gots a cam! You wants to Cam? I can whack my big dick off in front of you and youse can sho me your boobies!
