Arousal from alcohol flush?

So, I just wanted to know whether it's common or uncommon for someone who doesn't usually drink to consume, say, half a glass of wine and as a result feel a whole-body warm tingle (I'm told this is properly called a flush) which is particularly noticeable in the crotch and feels arousing? If I describe this process in a story will it seem normal or bizarre?

I think it would seem normal in a story, though maybe you should up it to a whole glass of wine (I'm guessing one drink is the average amount it takes most very light drinkers to feel the flush).

I can't say I've ever noticed any flush and I'm a very infrequent drinker. Two glasses of champagne in 45 minutes didn't make me feel any different, though. Of course, I am a relatively big guy.

I have always found that wine has unique physiological effects when compared with other alcoholic beverages. The crotch sensations you are describing could be a result of increased blood flow because alcohol is a blood thinner. Kind of like an artificial substitute for the natural increase in blood flow to the crotch during arousal.

In addition to thinning the blood, alcohol dilates the blood vessels. With a small amount of alcohol, I'd venture to say that is the mechanism that would cause genital flushing and any feelings associated with it.

Sounds good to me.

Ahh, makes sense, since I'm also supposed to take a low-dose asprin daily to improve my circulation. Maybe that's why even a small amount of wine causes a noticable flush even though I'm a relatively big woman.

One caveat - as long as (with regard to writing a story, that is) you don't use that flush to motivate someone having sex with someone they wouldn't have sex with otherwise. Alcohol doesn't cause people to want sex with someone they wouldn't have sex with sober.

Unless it's tequila...then maybe :D

That damn tequila flush nails me every time!

I think the last sentence kinda negates the rest of your post. (G)

While I was in the navy I spent a lot of time in Japan and many Japanese flush all over when they have small to moderate amounts of alcohol. Whether or not it makes them horny is something I can't answer. Well not about the men anyway.

p.s. Nikki I have a full bottle of Patron Reposado and I may live just down the street from you. Can I buy you a drink or seven?(G)

Perhaps. I suppose it depends on what you felt prior to starting the aspirin regimen. I've found alcohol effects and tolerance are genetic for me. My mom and I have vastly different body types, but we're both sensitive to alcohol. Obviously my tolerance increased when I drank far more in high school and college, but it's never been typical and I've always been prone to having negative effects from drinking.

I flush terribly with a very small amount of wine aged with oak. Years ago while we were wine tasting, I learned it's actually an allergic reaction. The wine draws out the histimines in the oak and causes a reaction in some people. I flush horribly and get a headache very quickly. My mom just gets a headache and feels lousy. That's neither here nor there to your story, but it was an interesting revelation (that's severely limited my wine choices  ) for me, and it may be useful to someone else here.
